Gates of the city
Perhaps, in every city there is a landmark symbolizing the gate. Minsk is no exception. True, here the gates are two identical residential buildings that were built in 1953. Each has eleven tall towers. The style of the gates of the city is Stalinist classicism. On the upper tiers of each building are sculptures of Red Army soldiers, workers and peasants, each height reaches 3.5 meters.
On one of the towers are the clocks, which are the largest in the country. The dial in diameter reaches more than 3.5 meters. The watch itself has been over a hundred years old. They were brought to Belarus from Germany during the Great Patriotic War. Instead of a clock, the second tower has the same emblem of the BSSR.

Unusual library museum
The National Library of Belarus appeared just ten years ago. Looking at it, you cannot immediately understand what is in front of you. The building is made in a futuristic style and resembles a complex geometric figure in the shape of a diamond. The height of the library is as much as 73.6 meters, which equals 23 floors. The weight of the structure without books is 115 thousand tons. The total building area is 19.5 thousand square meters.
The facade of the library is made of materials such as heat-reflecting mirror glass and aluminum structures. The shape of the diamond is chosen for a reason. It is a symbol that means human knowledge. The special construction technology allows you to create the mode necessary for the preservation of books.
At the very top of the library is an observation deck with a panoramic view of the city. Below are the reading rooms, which occupy three floors. From each there is access to a beautiful garden. The National Library of Belarus can simultaneously accommodate up to 14 million books. There is a monument to Francis Skorina in front of the main entrance to the building, and an alley is broken on the opposite side. It has immortalized the great figures of Belarus in the field of culture, politics and science.

Manor in Losice
If you want to feel the spirit of antiquity, then you should go to Loshitsa. It is here that the famous manor-park complex of the same name is located, which belongs to the monuments of art of the 18th century. Initially, there was a small estate Loshitsa. But in the second half of the 18th century, Stanislav Prushinsky, a knight of Polish orders, rebuilt it and turned it into a large residence.
The manor and park complex consists of a large park, in which there are still growing specimens of trees brought from different countries and planted by the owner of the estate, Eustathius Lubansky. There are chapels, houses of the house-keeper of a water mill, buildings of a distillery, household buildings, a gate, a pond and the manor house itself, which includes two buildings. The first is a wooden one-story, and the second is a two-story stone.
Loshitsa Manor was reconstructed for more than ten years. Now it is again open for visits.
Minsk Botanical Garden
Interesting places in Minsk are, of course, the local botanical garden. It was built in 1932. Its area is 153 hectares, which allows us to call the Minsk Botanical Garden the largest in the world.
On such a large territory more than ten thousand plants were found. Here you can take a walk on your own or book an excursion for groups. The territory provides everything for relaxation: playgrounds with benches, gazebos, summer cafes and toilets. And also the botanical garden of Minsk is a place where serious scientific work is carried out related to the study and conservation of plants.

City of fountains

In the square of Gritsaev there is a real work of art - a tree with a rich crown, twisting branches and powerful roots.

City sculptures
All interesting places in Minsk are decorated with sculptures. Their number far exceeds the number of fountains. Among the monuments to famous personalities, such as Taras Shevchenko, Francis Skorin, Yanka Kupala, Yakub Kolas, Somin Budny, Vasily Tyapinsky, Maxim Bogdanovich, Adam Mickiewicz, Yazep Drozdovich and so on, there are very interesting, sometimes even unusual ones.
For example, in Mikhailovsky Square you can see a full-length sculpture of a girl under an umbrella, a woman on a bench and a passer-by. Even in the city you can see monuments to ballerinas, a photographer, a pregnant woman, a postman, a bathhouse attendant, Baron Munchausen, sculptures of a grandmother with seeds, a lady with a dog, lighting a cigarette, girls with an owl. One of the most interesting is the monument dedicated to shopaholics, which is located at the entrance to the Central Department Store.
