Holidays in Lagonaki annually attract climbers, skiers, rafters, cavers and just tourists who want to enjoy the beautiful scenery of alpine meadows! Everyone who first appears in this area will be fascinated by the mysterious legend of the unfortunate love of Lago and Naki - a shepherd and princess. Old-timers say that lovers jumped from the height of a mountain plateau, fleeing from the persecution of the formidable prince-father. Places shrouded in a haze of romance always make the traveler's heart beat faster .
Geography of the region
At the junction of the Adygea and Krasnodar territories, at the level of 2000 m, there is the Lagonaki Highlands, whose sights are known far beyond the Caucasus. Its highest point is
Mount Fisht (2853.9 m), the name in translation means "white-headed". Scientists believe that in the ancient ocean of Tethys it was she who was a
coral island. Mountain ranges, highlands and small plateaus of the highlands are separated from the rest of the Western Caucasus by steep cliffs from almost all sides. On a clear sunny day, Fisht is clearly visible not only from nearby Maykop and Sochi, but also from Krasnodar (in a straight distance of about 135 km).
Caves and canyons
High up to the alpine meadows, an asphalt road is laid. It is on it that tourists who want to touch the mystery of Lagonaki get to - attractions are located right on the highway. First of all, it is the Big Azish cave. Of the 125 caves hiding in the mountains, it is especially visited because of its convenient location. In 1987, it was equipped on a 220-meter-long plot: light was connected, paths, stairs, and fences were built. Another visited cave of the Highlands is Tender, its peculiarity lies in the horizontal arrangement, so it has always been inhabited. Convenience to view lies in the small size of the cave - 97 m in length and 7 m in depth. Lagonaki has many canyons, but the most accessible of them is the Big Granite. Located on a section of the Belaya River, it is known for the fact that its walls are laid out by nature itself from stone of various shapes and colors. Tourists practically do not visit the canyon of the Zice River of remarkable beauty because of its inaccessibility - you can get there only by water.
Lakes
Until 2012, numerous tourists stayed on the shore of Lake Psenoda, in a crescent-like shape. Translated from Circassian, the name means "a beautiful well." It is interesting that a lake several tens of centimeters deep sometimes forms funnels, well visible through the expanse of crystal water. Currently, tourists are forbidden to approach the Psenoda pond closer than 400 m: the authorities take care of preserving the natural balance of Lagonaki, the sights are strictly protected by law.
Historical sights
The list of natural wonders of these places seems to be inexhaustible - a map of Lagonaki with attractions is literally cut with signs of interesting places. Interesting places of this region are not limited to miraculous creations. At an altitude of 633.2 m, there is the Andreevskaya beam and the obelisk to A. Andreev, erected at the site of the battle with the Nazis in 1942. A bridge built by the Cossacks in 1906 spread across the Dakh River. It is also considered an architectural monument. The bridge reached our days only thanks to the solution with which the stones were fastened: egg white and milk gave the building an unusual strength.
The infrastructure of the mountainous region is under development, and this is understandable: many predict this resort a great future, comparing it with the Alps. Lagonaki, whose attractions are so diverse and numerous, is destined in the near future to become part of the project "Resorts of the North Caucasus."
