General Andreev is one of the many heroes of the Soviet Union who participated in two wars. During his military service, he participated in several key operations. The biography of General Andreev, his military merits and awards will be discussed later.

Childhood and youth

The birthplace of Andreyev Andrey Matveevich is St. Petersburg, the date of birth is November 12, 1905. My father was a worker at the Semyanikovsk Shipyard, there is no data on the mother’s profession, presumably she worked there. When the son was 15 years old, the whole family moved to the Smolensk region, the village of Tatarsk, Monastyrschensky district, to the small homeland of the father of the future general Andreev. The whole family almost immediately began to engage in agriculture. In 1922, Andrei graduated from high school.

The beginning of military service

In 1924 he was called up to the ranks of the OGPU - the united state political administration. In the same year, Andreev was sent as a private to the 1st Smolensky Regiment. Later, he was transferred to the 13th Zaslavsky border detachment.

A year later, Andreev was sent to study in Minsk, at the 2nd Belarusian school of border guards of the OGPU. After graduating from this school in 1927, he receives an appointment to the frontier post, becoming the senior assistant to its head. This is the 12th Bigosovo border detachment (OGPU troops) in the Vitebsk region.

In mid-1929 A.M. Andreev was transferred to the Pleschenitskaya border outpost in the Minsk region, where he served as an assistant to the chief. A year later, the future General Andreev was transferred as an instructor for political affairs to the 28th separate Smolensk division, which belongs to the OGPU troops.

Training and further service

At the end of 1933, Andreev began training at the Higher Border School in Moscow, run by the NKVD, and after its graduation, from mid-1935, he entered the service of the NKVD troops, in the 13th Motorized Rifle Regiment. The latter is deployed in Almaty. He receives the position of assistant commander of the regiment for political affairs, then the commander of the division, and after that - the battalion commander (battalion commander) and the head of the regiment’s school.

In 1936, he became a student of the Military Academy named after Frunze, in the correspondence department, two years later he was transferred to full-time. After completing his studies at the academy in 1939, he was appointed the head of the fifth Red Banner Border Detachment, under the jurisdiction of the NKVD, located in Sestroretsk. Later he was elected a deputy of the City Council of Sestroretsk.

First military action

The future General Andreev, the commander of the 3rd ski border detachment, takes part in combat clashes during the war with Finland. After its completion, he was included in the special Soviet-Finnish commission, which was responsible for the demarcation of the new border, and also settled possible border disputes and conflicts. In this position, he proved himself to be a competent and unyielding employee, which allowed most of the contentious issues to be resolved in favor of the USSR.

Soviet-Finnish War

In 1940, Andreev was again appointed the head of the fifth Red Banner detachment, which was stationed there.

War

During the beginning of the Second World War, Andreev served in the same position, in the same place, but the next month he was transferred to the Leningrad Front. He headed the guard post in the 23rd Army, in the rear.

In September of the same year he was appointed commander of the 43 rifle division, and at the end of October he already commands the 86th rifle division. Andreev takes part in the most difficult battles on the Nevsky Piglet.

In 1942 he received the post of the first castle of the 23rd Army, and after some time - the 42nd Army. In mid-1942, he took part in offensive operations, commanding an operational group, and was wounded during military clashes.

New appointments

At the end of November 1942, Andreev received the post of commander in the 102nd Infantry Division in the Far East. It was she who, after some time, took part in several offensive operations, including Orlovskaya. For military merits, the division was awarded the honorary title "Novgorod-Severskaya", and also received the Order of the Red Banner.

Star of the Hero of the Soviet Union

In the December days of 1943, Andrei Matveyevich was appointed commander of the 29th Rifle Corps, who would later take part in the Belarusian offensive operation. A year later, in September, he begins to command the fourth Guards Rifle Corps, participating in military operations on the Vistula River.

In November 1944, Andreev was appointed deputy commander of the 47th Army. A month later, he becomes commander of the 125th Corps of Riflemen, who liberated Warsaw in mid-January 1945. The corps also participated in the Berlin offensive, for which he was awarded the Order of Kutuzov II degree.

Berlin offensive operation

The military service of General Andreev, accompanied by personal courage, heroism and competent leadership during the hostilities, as well as for the defeat of the fascist troops in Poland, led to the fact that he was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.

Post-war years

After the war ended, General Andreev continued to command the 125th Rifle Corps, and in January 1946 he was appointed commander of the Fourth Guards Corps, which was located in Germany. Then he took command of the 7th and 19th Rifle Corps, and later the 7th Guards Army in the Transcaucasian Military District.

In 1954, he transferred to the Belarusian Military District and took command of the 28th Army. In 1957 he became commander of the Voronezh Military District. Three years later, he is appointed senior representative of the Commander-in-Chief of the United Armed Forces of the Warsaw Treaty member countries.

Commemorative plaque

In 1963, General Andreev was appointed head of the Military University of Foreign Languages. Ten years later, he resigned, and in mid-November 1983 Andreev died. He was buried with military honors at the Kuntsevo cemetery. Here is a life full of successful military operations and other events that General Andreyev lived.
