In the Kemerovo region in 1964, the Belovskoye reservoir was built, which is the second most important reservoir in this area. It was built in conjunction with the construction of the Belovskaya State District Power Plant in order to cool the worked water and drain sewage with it. Belovsky reservoir is located on the river Inya. Its length is approximately about 10 kilometers, and its depth is almost five meters. Ecological situation
But, despite all this, the environmental situation in these places leaves much to be desired. The Belovskoye Reservoir (reviews of local residents indicate an awaiting danger) is oversaturated with toxic waste, pollutants and bacteria. Every year, copper, lead, manganese, zinc, nickel, iron, chromium, nitrogen, and many other harmful substances fall into the reservoir. At the moment, tourists leave garbage and broken glass ashore, which makes the surrounding landscape quite unpresentable.
The state district power station has a license, which implies the possibility of technical use of water for cooling purposes. It is for this reason that the Belovskoye Reservoir is officially called the “cooling pond”.
This region receives money from power engineers who pay for water use. But nobody wants to take care of the reservoir. The city and the region do not keep it on their balance sheet, and, unfortunately, the surrounding territory and the reservoir itself are in decline.
