The cartoon “Despicable Me” and all of its sequels was hugely popular with cute and slightly crazy characters. The followers of the "evil" genius, the numerous henchmen of the protagonist, are considered the most interesting and attractive. Many craftswomen from around the world were attracted by an unusual idea, and the so-called minion hat appeared. A bright yellow hat is adored by children and many brave adults, inclined to experiment with their wardrobe.
Preparation for work
A minion hat can be with one or two eyes, as well as cartoon characters. Thanks to the last show, purple “crazy” models with a fluffy top appeared. It is made from yarn “Grass”, but they are all knitted according to the same pattern. For a minion hat to fit an adult, you just need to use the standard scheme for a tight-fitting headgear. You should also choose slightly stretching threads and not the thinnest hook. The usual “two-eyed” cap of the minion, the scheme of which is given in this article, assumes knowledge of the basic knitting techniques, but it refers to the simplest models.
Thread and Hook Selection
For a hat designed for a head circumference of 52-54 cm, very few threads will be required. It is easy enough to knit from inexpensive and common Baby yarn, sold in hanks of 50 g. However, you can use any other available yarns, the composition of which would approximately correspond to the following: 25% natural wool, cotton or even silk and 75% ordinary acrylic. This ratio will allow you not to worry that the product will “sit down” after the first wash or will wrinkle. The Minion’s Cap model involves the use of 50 g of bright yellow threads, as well as the remains of brown, blue, black and white tones to create eyes. It will be good if all the threads are of the same quality and one firm. Hook for Baby yarn is suitable for No. 2.2-2.5.
Mignon hat: knitting pattern
The bottom of the cap is knitted with yellow threads according to the simplest scheme with additions. In a ring of six air loops, two double crochets are knitted. Then in each next row you need to make uniform increases: one single crochet (SBN), then two SBN in one loop. In the next row there are 2 SBN, after which the next increase in RLS in one loop. Thus, in each next row, RLS will be added to each 2-3-4-5th ... loop.
So, we knit 10 rows of the bottom with additions, and so that the minion’s hat bends and takes the desired shape, you do not need to do the addition from the 11th row. The 13th and 14th rows are knitted in black - this will be the basis for future points. Further, until the 23rd row, yellow yarn is used, and the edge of the headdress is tied with ordinary crochet columns in a blue tone. You can tie small ears, but in the classic model they are not.
To make eyes, you need to knit two identical parts according to the bottom pattern and thinner crochet. You need to start with black, which will be the pupil, then go to the brown iris and finish with white. To make the glasses look finished, they are tied around the edge with gray threads (to create a frame). Ready eyes are sewn to the hat at the black stripe level, a smile is embroidered, and that’s all - the work is ready.
