Harem pants are wide, loose pants that are pulled together at the waist and bottom with elastic bands. This word came to our language from Turkic and sounded earlier like shalvars. Then it acquired an easier pronunciation of the word for us. These pants were loved by residents of India and other eastern countries, worn by Zaporozhye Cossacks. They still remain an element of the national men's costume of Ukrainians.

Sometimes they make a single, and often double.
For carnival costumes, harem pants according to the pattern are sewn mainly of sparkling satin fabric. It gives along a festive look. The colors used are different. For the Ukrainian national costume, trousers for the pattern are sewn in blue or light blue, although the red option is also possible. For other characters, different color schemes are selected.
Pattern
To prepare the pattern, you must first make the necessary measurements. Measure the child’s hip circumference, the length of the trousers along the line of the outer side of the thigh, the length of the trouser legs along the inside of the thigh, thus calculating the height of the seat. Leg width is optional. You can measure the boy’s trousers and add a few centimeters for a loose fit. How to sew harem pants?
If you know how to make a pattern by measurements, then after taking measurements and drawing a drawing on paper, everything is transferred to the fabric. It remains only to sew the details along the seamy side and arrange the belt and lower cuffs. You can make a single elastic band, or you can stitch the material twice and insert two elastic bands.
If you do not know how to make a pattern of bloomers, it does not matter. Such light pants can be sewn using any pants or leggings of the child. To do this, they need to be laid out on a table and bent in half, with the width inward. Hand gently smooth all the folds. Circle the trousers along the contours. The pattern will be the back half of the legs. Then we turn the trousers outward with the fly and fold in half in the opposite direction.
Also, you need to carefully smooth out all the folds. We put it on the material and draw a chalk around the front of the pattern. So that the trousers are wide, on each side we add a few centimeters to the allowance. Do not forget to additionally leave 1 cm at the seams. The length of the legs also increases, as does the height of the waist.
Then two identical parts of the back and front parts of the bloomers are cut out. The details are sewn on the wrong side. The belt is tucked in half, and several strips for elastic are sewn. The same thing is done with the bottom of the legs to stitch the cuffs.
