DIY Kolobok costume
Such a suit has an element depicting a fairy-tale character. The rest of the outfit can be selected from the ready-made things in the wardrobe, or you can sew a cape and a hat as an addition to the image of Kolobok. To sew such a suit, you need to prepare a yellow cloth (it is more convenient to use cotton: it is easier to work with), orange fleece, threads, needles, a thin sheet of foam rubber, scissors, a sheet of Whatman paper, a pencil.
First you need to measure the distance from the base of the neck to the navel. This will be the diameter of the circle. You do not need to do more, as the child will be uncomfortable moving or sitting in such an outfit. Transfer the dimensions to the paper of whatman paper and draw a circle. Next, we transfer this pattern to matter folded in half to cut two identical parts at once, and we cut a foam rubber circle according to the pattern.
The next step is to fold the prepared workpiece with the wrong side out and sew or stitch it in your hands in a circle, leaving a small hole for subsequent insertion into the foam. We turn it on the front side, iron it and insert the foam rubber, gently spreading it throughout the interior. Then the remaining hole is sutured with an internal seam so that it is not visible.
Costume decoration
After preparing the foundation, it remains only to make a mouth, eyes, rosy cheeks and a forelock, and the Kolobok costume, sewn with your own hands, is ready. Some advise making small pens on both sides. But this is optional. Eyes can be made with two oval buttons. For rosy cheeks cut two small circles of fleece. They can be glued, but it is safer to sew. The mouth can be made using a gypsy needle and knitting thread, stitching along the drawn contour with a decorative seam. Chub fairy-tale hero can be made of fleece, cut into strips, as in the photo.
The resulting circle is fixed either with the help of ribbons on the back, like a backpack, or by sewing it on a child’s waistcoat or shirt.
Costume Kolobok: second option
Another option for sewing such an outfit for a holiday consists of two similar circles. The principle of tailoring is the same, only you can use a thin synthetic winterizer instead of foam rubber. The pattern is also a little different. If in the previous method there was just a circle, now on the front and back you need to cut out armholes under the sleeves and neck. Sleeves can not be sewn, as this requires skills and the presence of a sewing machine. You can simply put the resulting Kolobok vest over a yellow shirt or golf under your throat.
The back of the circle, which will be on the back side, can not be stitched with a synthetic winterizer. So the child will not be hot at the matinee. Enough if the front will be voluminous. From the bottom we leave a part of the circle without a seam so that it can be worn over the child’s head. Pants can be any color: black, blue, yellow, brown.
