According to historical data, in the XV century there was a small village, which included no more than twenty yards. True, this settlement was called a little differently - " Olekseevskoe " . Way to Yaroslavl
The avenue is located between the Garden Ring and Sukharevskaya Square, is a continuation of the Yenisei Street and Sretenka. In the 17th century , the road to Yaroslavl began from here. In Moscow, this path passed through Rostokino, Alekseevskoye and other villages. Around this time, the Meshchanskaya Sloboda arose here, after which several Moscow streets were later named.
In the second half of the XIX century, the territory of the modern Avenue of the World was actively built up with mansions and apartment buildings. At the end of the next century, a number of buildings appeared here, most of which, of course, have not survived to this day. At the beginning of the thirties of the last century, Mira Avenue, like many other Moscow streets, was paved, but not very successfully. Specialists from an American company who apparently did not know anything about severe Russian frost took part in the construction work.
Construction Avenue
The coating crumbled after two years, unable to withstand the winter cold. In 1934, the street was expanded, eliminating tram tracks. For the same purpose, the front gardens located next to residential buildings were eliminated. In 1936, a large-scale reconstruction of the avenue began. Design and construction was carried out in a short time. As a result of the hasty reconstruction, the architectural appearance of the street was significantly damaged. Specialists, creating projects of new houses, did not take into account the style of buildings that have existed for several centuries. And soon mass housing construction unfolded here. After the war, in 1949, several hundred poplars were planted along the avenue. Eight years later, the Second Rostokinsky Bridge was built.
