Forest Lake in Sergiev Posad is located near the former village of Ferma. Now it is one of the neighborhoods on the outskirts of the city. The pond is located in the middle of a mixed forest. The beauty of nature attracts tourists to these places. Lovers of beach vacations and fishing come here. The lake is located 75 km from the capital, away from noisy tracks and the bustle of the city.
Description of the lake
In the past, here, at the military unit, was the closed town of Zagorsk-7. The lake was located on its outskirts. Currently, he became part of the city of Sergiev Posad.
The Torgosha River flowed nearby. In the 1960s, the efforts of military builders and residents of the town created a dam with a length of 170 m on it. Thus, Lake Forest in Sergiev Posad was formed. Improvements to this place were carried out. A fisherman’s house and a boat station with a pier were built on the lake. Unfortunately, these structures were destroyed and did not reach our days.
The lake has an oblong shape with many bays. On the right side is a sandy beach, the rest of the banks are located in the forest. The pond stretched along the bed of the Torgosh River. The length of Forest Lake in Sergiev Posad is about 5 km, width is from 200 to 400 m. The depth is small, about 4-5 m. Nearby is the cottage village "Forest Lake 2".
In 2017, repair of the dam on the lake was started. The slope of the structure will be strengthened with slabs, it will be landscaped and an asphalt path will be made. It is planned to modernize the drainage and intake device. During the construction of the dam, a fountain in the form of a statue of Neptune was installed on its lower pool, but over time it became clogged and does not work. It is supposed to repair and clean this building.

The right side of Forest Lake in Sergiev Posad is landscaped. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay on the beach. The recreation area is equipped with a rescue tower, changing cabins, dry closets, trash containers, a swing for children and benches. Kids can jump on a trampoline here and play air hockey. There is a kiosk where you can buy ice cream, juices and sparkling water, as well as a summer cafe. Near the beach there is a grocery store.
Is it possible to swim in the Forest Lake in Sergiev Posad? This question interests all vacationers. Unfortunately, water samples do not meet the necessary quality standards, and officially swimming is not recommended here. The lake receives drains from the nearest villages, and the bottom has not been cleaned for a long time. Because of this, litter and silt accumulate, decomposition and decay are underway, and harmful microorganisms multiply.
However, many vacationers are immersed in water, despite the ban. On hot summer days, a lot of people go swimming in the lake. In mid-August, the beach even hosts a holiday dedicated to the closing of the swimming season.

Fishing on the lake
Many people come to Sergiev Posad for fishing. The fauna of the Forest Lake is quite diverse. It is home to scavenger, roach, crucian carp, perch. If you settle down with a fishing rod just to the right of the dilapidated bridge, you can catch a bream.
Fishing enthusiasts in Sergiev Posad say that quite a large fish is found in the lake: pike, carp, tench. Sometimes individuals weighing up to 10 kg came across. But for this you need to know the most suitable places for fishing. In the past, the Red Bridge was on the lake; it has not survived to this day. But old-timers remember his whereabouts. Places near the former bridge are considered optimal for fishing. You can ask the locals for directions. The reference point will be abandoned horizontal bars and sports equipment on the path, this path leads to the former bridge.
How to get there by car
How to get to Forest Lake in Sergiev Posad by car from Moscow? First you need to get to the north-eastern part of the Moscow Ring Road, from there, turn onto the Yaroslavl highway and move to the kilometer indicator "72". Then drive under the bridge and turn along the sign "Sergiev Posad-Sharapovo". Further on the road, a fork will be visible. It is necessary to keep to the right side and the signs of "Sergiev Posad", while not turning towards Sharapova. Behind the bridge will be the village of Glinkovo, it should be passed. Behind the village at the intersection there will be a bridge and a traffic light. You need to turn right and again right after 30-40 meters. Thus, you will enter the Ferma microdistrict, where Forest Lake is located.
How to get there by public transport
You can also get to Forest Lake by public transport. First you need to get from Yaroslavl Station by train to Sergiev Posad. The journey will take about 1.5 hours. Then transfer to minibus 18 and go for about 15 minutes to the final stop "Microdistrict Farm".
You can get to Sergiev Posad by bus 388 from the VDNKh metro station, and then get to the Fermat microdistrict by minibus 18.
