Try to remember the school lessons in which you learned to sculpt various figures from plasticine . Follow the same procedure.

  • Spread the cling film on the table and roll the mastic into a thin layer. It can be sprinkled with a little sugar powder.
  • Cut either circles with petals or other necessary details using a sharp knife or a small tin (a glass or similar base is suitable).
  • Form volumetric elements by connecting together the two sides of the petal at the base.
  • Dry the workpieces.

If you notice that during operation, the mastic flower sticks to your hands, add a little powdered sugar. To prevent the mass from drying out, wrap it in film or parchment. Experienced confectioners advise you not to get involved in a large number of parts from mastic, so that the cakes are not harsh. Since milk mastic has a natural creamy yellow hue, you can try another recipe for sweet mass if you want to make a pale blue or pink flower from mastic.

There are subtleties here. Because gelatin mastic is more capricious, as confectioners like to say, you need to β€œfeel it”.
β€’ Take 10 gr. gelatin, soak it in water (ten tablespoons) for an hour.
β€’ Heat the composition in a water bath so that all gelatin is completely dissolved.
β€’ Wait for it to cool.
β€’ In cool gelatin, but still liquid, gradually add 900 g. powdered sugar. Keep the mass well kneaded.
β€’ Now roll out very thinly part of the mastic on the film (you need to sprinkle it with powdered sugar).
β€’ Tear off fragments and use a regular teaspoon to form petals (for example, a tulip) using its inner surface. Do the same on other spoons. Collect dried items directly on the cake.
If you understand the technology of how to make a flower from mastic, then other elements of cake decorating (for example, animals, houses, figures, openwork fragments) will no longer present difficulties for you. Good luck!
