If you like to make gifts with your own hands, then the article will be interesting to you. Have you tried sewing textile dolls? They are very popular among hand-made goods. A finished pattern of an attic toy that you can print or redraw from the screen will help you make a cute souvenir that will improve your mood.
Why such a name
All characters made in this style are very similar to things that have been lying in the attic for a long time, because the fabric has grown old and browned, as well as saturated with the aroma of herbs that are usually dried under the roof. Attic toys are also called coffee, as artificial aging is performed using a coffee solution. Vanilla and cinnamon are added to it. The attic toy pattern is always extremely simple. The whole charm of the souvenir is in its delicate brown shade and unforgettable aroma. To make such a thing is very simple.
Manufacturing sequence
These gifts are made using the following technology:
- You will need a pattern of an attic toy that you can take ready-made or draw yourself. Details are transferred to a fabric (usually calico, linen or other natural) and cut out.
- Finished items are stained with a solution of coffee with vanilla and cinnamon.
- After drying, the parts are sewn together on the inside, and then they turn out through a small hole left.
- The product is filled with padding polyester or other material, the hole is sutured.
- Toys decorate, draw or embroider facial features on them, decorate with bows, lace, humorous phrases.
Character forms are usually very simple. The product is sewn from one, a maximum of two or three parts, for example, tail or ears are sewn to the body. So any beginner needlewoman can make this gift.
DIY loft toys: patterns
If you decide to do this type of needlework, you have two options:
- Choose your favorite patterns and sew your souvenir on them.
- Take a piece of paper and come up with your own characters.
Choose what suits you best. For those who can draw and have imagination, the second way is optimal. If you have no idea what you can come up with new and interesting, then use any ready-made template.
It is enough to print it on a scale that suits you or simply redraw it from the monitor screen, cut out a paper blank and use it to cut out the form from the fabric.
Cats and cats
Any characters can be made according to a very simple template, where only one detail is present (two identical are cut out). All other elements are simply finished with acrylic on the finished product.
The template presented above and below is good to use for “positivists”, who write funny inscriptions on them. Remember to add PVA glue to the coffee solution. This will serve as a primer for the paint so that the pigments do not "fall" into the fabric and do not lose brightness.
The following are more complex patterns of attic toys. The cat in the next photo looks more realistic and proportionate, but the shape is still made simplified. Before you turn the toy, made according to the template, where there are sharp corners and transitions of forms, strong rounding (tail, the area between the head and the body), make small incisions in the seam allowances. This will prevent the fabric from contracting after eversion. Work with scissors very carefully so as not to damage the stitched seam.
The next version of the toy can be performed as a single unit, or to sew the ears in separate parts. The muzzle is easy to embroider.
Such a pattern, as in the following picture, is well suited for Valentine's Day. A heart (one or even several) can be drawn, sewn on top as a patch or embroidered. If you increase its size, you can use it to write text.
As you can see, the patterns of the same animal are significantly different in shape. Take any version of the template or, if desired, improve it. For example, you can add four paws and a tail to the first, sewing them in separate parts. Size also make one that suits you.
Attic toys (patterns): owls
The first illustration shows the simplest option. Cut two identical parts from the fabric and sew along the perimeter. Draw the eyes, wings, paws with acrylic paints.
Use the following option as a "positive" or Valentine. Write a fun text in the heart. Sew wings and paws in separate parts consisting of two elements. They can be filled with a synthetic winterizer or left flat, just like the base. Beak and eyes draw or embroider.
According to the following pattern, you can sew a toy with voluminous wings and eyebrows. Make paws at your discretion. Everything else is better to draw.
Below is another simple version of the toy. Use the parts shown in the diagram as desired. Draw them, embroider, make three-dimensional of the fabric in the form of separate elements filled with padding polyester.
All presented blanks of owls have smooth transitions of forms, and their configuration is maximally simplified. So choose any option. They are all easily doable.
Teddy bear and hare
If you decide to make attic toys, patterns for them can be made already taking into account allowances for seams or without them.
The dotted line in the top photo shows the line along which to draw. If it is not, step back from the edge a few millimeters and draw it yourself inside the contour or outside on the fabric.
As you can see, almost all the characters presented are symmetrical about the vertical, so when transferring the template to the fabric, you can simply fold the material in half, and attach a half of the pattern to the fold line.
"Positive"
Many needlewomen display photographs depicting cool, very emotional attic toys. Patterns for them are taken absolutely any, on the principle of "The simpler, the better."
Positive and funny they are obtained through
facial expressions and original humorous inscriptions directly on the character. Often animals are given an unusual (unnatural) shape. Cats look like balls or rectangles or, on the contrary, have too elongated proportions with elongated necks. However, the configuration is not the point. You can see the whole "collection", sewn one pattern. At the same time, each character reflects his emotions (he is surprised, laughs, squints) and has a text composed with a sense of humor.
So, you saw how simple the attic toy pattern is . It is easy to build on your own. If you do not know how to draw and invent new things at all, take any ready-made template, print it to the desired scale and use it to make a souvenir.
