One of the most significant historical monuments in the city, of course, is the Kolomna Kremlin. The greatness of this most striking example of ancient Russian defensive architecture does not detract even from the sad fact that it has survived to this day only in fragmentary form. The ancient Kremlin was exactly the place from which Kolomna began. Her sights to this day are especially densely concentrated around this ancient fortification. These include, first of all, Orthodox churches that have come down to us from the depths of centuries.

This is the Church of St. John the Baptist on the Settlement and the Assumption Cathedral, erected on the Cathedral Square of the Kremlin to commemorate the victory of Russian weapons over the Mongol-Tatars by decree of Dmitry Donskoy. No less historically significant are such ancient temples as the Resurrection Church and the Church of St. Nicholas Gostiny. The Vozdvizhenskaya church, made in the Empire style, Tikhvin Cathedral and Novo-Golutvin Holy Trinity Monastery is very expressive in architectural terms. Such is the Orthodox Kolomna. Her sights survived the militant atheism of the beginning of the Soviet era and continue to be a decoration of the city today. However, in addition to the magnificent temple architecture, the city has a lot of noteworthy secular architecture.

Perhaps the two central streets - Artillery and Pushkinskaya - most vividly convey the character and originality of the city. This is exactly the historical Kolomna. Attractions are located on both sides of these ancient streets. These are magnificent merchant mansions and more strict public buildings.
