Squirrel - a participant in many tales and epics. This is a small rodent that lives on trees and feeds mainly on various nuts. In this article, we will talk about how to mold a plasticine squirrel with your own hands using a minimal set of tools.
What materials need to be prepared
To sculpt the protein, you need to prepare clay in brown and black. You may also need a lot of white, sand or gray. In addition to plasticine, you can use stacks for sculpting, textures and other improvised items. The sculpting surface should be flat.
The simplest plasticine protein
To mold a simple squirrel with a nut, prepare a mass for modeling brown, dark brown and black. From a brown piece, form a body, four small paws, an elongated drop head and a long tail.
First connect the head and torso. Then attach the front and hind legs to it. Then the tail. The seams between the parts must be gently ironed with a finger. Make sure the figure does not fall. Then from black plasticine, blind three small balls. Fix two balls in place of the eyes, and the third in place of the nose. From a dark brown plasticine, make a small ball and put it in the legs of a rodent. Plasticine squirrel is ready.
More complex figures
Let's try a more complicated option. To mold a protein from plasticine, form a body and legs from one piece of plasticine. Then stick the tail and head. Make ears in the form of small petals and stick to the head. Smooth the seams with your finger and erase the prints. Then take paints (for example, gouache, acrylic) and paint the squirrel: make the abdomen white, then tint the legs, muzzle and tail with dark brown paint, and draw black and white eyes and nose.
To make a squirrel with a backpack, take plasticine green, brown, dark brown, white and black. First, blind the squirrel from the dark brown mass as we indicated in the first version. Process the seams. Attach a crest on the crown. Then take a brown or beige plasticine and make a thin cake out of it. Tear off two small pieces from it and gently stick them on the stomach and muzzle of a plasticine squirrel. Carefully process the seams.
Then take plasticine of a different color, for example green, and form two small sausages and a backpack out of it. Stick the backpack to the back, and make the straps out of the sausages.
For the eye, take two black balls and two smaller white balls. They need to be flattened a bit. Stick black cakes first, and white ones on top. The eyes are ready. Make a nose out of another ball. Eyes can be painted with gouache or acrylic paint. Well, the plasticine squirrel is ready.
What material can I sculpt from?
Plasticine is not the only material you can create from. For modeling, you can use salted dough, velvet plastic, various types of clay, papier-mâché and cold porcelain. For children's activities, clay and salt dough are best suited. For people who already have some modeling skills, polymer clay or a self-hardening mass is suitable.
