Valery Smirnov is a Ukrainian prose writer from Odessa. Most of the works he wrote are detective novels. However, in addition to this, the author often publishes humorous stories and journalistic books on fishing. In total, more than 50 works came from the pen of the Odessa master.

Smirnov Valery Pavlovich was born on July 4, 1956 in glorious Odessa. In early childhood, he joined the books, which subsequently determined his future fate. He began to write his first stories during his studies at the institute.

However, as a writer, Valery Smirnov became famous in 1991. It was then that he published his first book, entitled "Alien Autumn." The main character of the detective novel was an ambitious guy from Odessa, who managed to overcome all the difficulties of life and make his way from the bottom to the place of the leader of a large mafia organization. This work appealed to the public, and the debut novel grew into a trilogy.

Among all his writings, the following books were most successful:

  • “Music played on Moldavanka”;
  • "Coffin from Odessa";
  • “License to kill”;
  • Shadow of the Berserker;
  • "The Devil's Claw."

In 1997, Valery Smirnov won the Green Wave international literary contest. Then the jury recognized him as the most read writer in Ukraine. And it was a well-deserved title, since his detectives at that time diverged in hundreds of thousands of copies.

Another curious fact is that Valery Smirnov throughout his entire writing career collaborated with only one publication. Despite the generous offers of his competitors, he worked until the very last with the Polygraph Printing House.
