Location and natural features
Selyava Lake, the photo of which can be viewed in the article, is located in the north-east of Belarus, in the Krupsky district of the Minsk region. It is fluid, fueled by the Vysokoye and Rakitovka rivers and is connected by a wide channel to the Obida pond. Selyava is one of the most beautiful and largest lakes in Belarus (ninth in terms of water volume!), Its area is 15 square kilometers, its depth is 19 meters. The bottom of the reservoir is covered with sand mixed with fine river pebbles, but silt sediments are also found. In the center of the lake are three islands. The coastal zone is relief, forms a large number of bays, bays and capes. The shores are low, mostly marshy, elevated from the north and south, covered with shrubs and sparse woodland. The water in the lake is bright, in summer the transparency exceeds two meters.
Flora and fauna
Lake Seljava is characterized by clean water surface, which does not overgrow with algae and duckweed. Thickets of reeds, reeds and sedges can be found along the coast; yellow water lilies, calamus and egg capsule are found in bays and backwaters. Since 1993, a state reserve has been created on the basis of the lake, in which more than 40 species of animals live, such as badgers, wolves, hares, bears, as well as 100 representatives of birds, waterfowl and forest. Herons, snipe, wild geese and ducks, cranes found their place on the lake surface. Muskrats are found in coastal burrows, beavers are building dams.
Rare plants found in the Red Book of the Republic of Belarus were found in the lake area. The surrounding area is rich in mushrooms - chanterelles, oils, mushrooms, mushrooms, mushrooms, mushrooms, honey mushrooms. Often there are berry places (blueberries, raspberries, lingonberries, currants).
Myth or reality?
Local residents tell a legend about Lake Selyava: as if on August 28, 1942, an American Pe-8 plane was shot down over the lake, transporting four tons of gold on board to the UK. Most likely, this is just a myth, a beautiful fairy tale for visitors, as the reservoir is not so deep that divers could not see it. However, the legend has a place to be.
A bit of history
Why is the lake named "Selyava"? What does this word mean? There are two theories.
According to the first version, the pond got its name thanks to the merchant family of Selyavichs, who possessed huge tracts of land, where the lake also fell. The second version says that the pond gained its name because of the fish - vendace, which in large quantities lives in its waters. Belarusians call it "mudflow".
Fishing
Apart from vendace, Lake Selyava is also rich in about 15 other species of fish: rudd, crucian carp, pike, bream, ruff, minnow, perch, roach, catfish, silver bream, spike, burbot, bleak, tench and ide. The place is nourished, therefore, according to the natives, excellent nibble is at any time of the year.
For fishing enthusiasts, paid fishing is organized. For convenience, a large number of bridges and moorings are equipped on the lake, from which it will be especially convenient for beginners to fish.
Holidays on Lake Selyava
The terrific beauty of the area and the healing air of Lake Selyava make it an excellent vacation spot. Especially for tourists built farmsteads - wooden two-story houses for eight to ten people. Selyava Lake - how to get there?

- By train or by bus from Minsk to the city of Krupki. Then go for several kilometers on foot or call a taxi. Before departure, it is necessary to clarify the schedule of transport.
- Order a transfer. Meeting at the airport, by train or bus. It is necessary to discuss the arrival date, time and cost of the trip in advance.
- By private car. Follow the Brest-Moscow (M1) highway to the sign of the city of Krupki. Turn right, go around the village of Krupsky, call in Krupki. Focusing on the sign "40", climb the mountain and turn left, following the sign "Proshika 19". Then move 19 km along the main road. At the entrance to the village of Proshika, follow the signs.
