Omsk Park of the 30th anniversary of the Komsomol is one of the oldest parks in the city. It was created on the site of the former Novo-Zagorodnaya Grove. In the tenth years of the twentieth century, this place was used by Omsk citizens for family walks.
Park Origin
The park was officially opened in May 1940, and eight years later it was named after the 30th anniversary of the Komsomol. In Omsk it was impossible to find a place more suitable for this purpose. On the territory of Novo-Zagorodnaya Grove several hundred thousand birches grew. In the middle of the grove was a natural lake, the shape of which was an ideal circle. The park was developing at an unusually fast pace. Even before the Great Patriotic War, the first attractions, volleyball and Russian playgrounds, as well as a dance floor, appeared here.
During the war, numerous statues were erected in the alleys, including compositions such as The Sailor, A Fighter on the Border with a Service Dog, A Girl with an Oar, A Girl Holding a Ball, A Girl Throwing a Disc, and Student with a textbook ”,“ Archer ”.
Interesting facts from the history of Omsk Park 30th anniversary of the Komsomol
Many Omsk people who walked in the park on June twenty-second of the forty-first year heard here about the German attack on the USSR from reproducers placed on lampposts. During the war years, the park was located grain storage. And in 1945, when the news of the victory came, people poured into the park, where a grandiose festive celebration was arranged.
Participants in those distant events recall that in honor of the celebration, a large barrel of kvass was brought for visitors to the park. They say that during the war a parachute tower was brought to Omsk along with the evacuated Baranov plant from the city of Zaporozhye. It was installed in the 30th anniversary of the Komsomol. In the post-war city, all new films were shown in the park’s wooden cinema, and earlier than in other places. Sometimes, long lines lined up for tickets. The cinema, unfortunately, did not last long, but the parachute tower stood until the 2000s. Events in the Omsk Park of the 30th anniversary of the Komsomol
From the time of its creation to the present day, the park has always been a venue for interesting cultural events. In the 40s and 50s of the last century, numerous spectators gathered for performances by comedians from the amateur performances of the Baranov Palace of Culture, in the 80s and 90s on the stage of "Shell" on the weekend there were concerts of a brass band with the participation of singer Nikolai Kakaulin. In the mid-90s in the summer, games and competitions for children were organized on the same venue, as well as rock festivals with the participation of local bands such as Stacks, Flying Pigs and others.
Park today
Currently, work is underway on planting new trees, a path for cyclists is equipped. For visitors to the park there are numerous old and new attractions. The largest “Upside Down House” in Russia has been installed. In addition to the old Ferris wheel, a new one appeared, located on the opposite side of the park. For those who prefer to enjoy outdoor recreation, away from noisy festivities, a quiet relaxation area will soon be opened, where linden and mock tree are planted, and a flower bed is created. A large lake is being cleaned.
Fishing in the lake is planned to be paid. To provide amateur fishermen with a rich catch, a young fish has already been launched into it.
