History
This international airport is the only one in Novosibirsk. The exact position where Tolmachevo is located is 21 km from the capital of Siberia, in the satellite city of Ob. Not only residents of Novosibirsk use it, but also people from nearby cities: Barnaul, Tomsk, Kemerovo, Novokuznetsk. The fact is that a large number of flights to other countries fly from here. The airport was founded in 1957. On July 12, the first passenger flight to Moscow flew up from here to the sky. Until that moment, the place where Tolmachevo was located was considered exclusively a military airfield.
After 5 years, a large terminal building was opened, which is capable of sending up to 1000 people every hour. Passenger traffic has increased over the years. It's time to build not only new air strips, but also a new airport terminal.
Until 1992, only regular domestic flights across Russia flew from Novosibirsk. But in the 92nd year, the airport received international status. The first to launch destinations in Indonesia, Germany, the UAE and China.
Today
Now Tolmachevo Airport is the 5th in terms of passenger traffic throughout Russia. In 2015, the number of people who used his services amounted to almost 4 million. It occupies a vast area of 618 hectares and has two runways.
