The Voikovskaya station is located on the Zamoskvoretskaya metro line in Moscow. It is located under the Leningrad highway in the same district in the Northern District of the capital. The station was opened in December 1964. It got its name from the iron foundry them. P. Voikova, who is nearby.
History
The construction plan of the Voikovskaya station in the Moscow metro appeared back in 1938. Then it was mentioned in the 1957 scheme, but at that time the subway development program was often adjusted, so the construction began only in 1959. Built in an open way according to a standard project.
The station is a columned three-span structure with shallow laying. The commissioning of Voykovskaya as part of the River Station - Sokol section took place on 12/31/1964. After that, there were 72 stations in the Moscow metro.
In whose honor is named
The Voykovskaya metro station was named after the nearby Moscow Iron Foundry, named after the Russian revolutionary Pyotr Voykov. In addition, she retained the name of the working village of Voikovec, which previously existed near the plant.
At the same time, the history of the name of the Voykovskaya metro station still excites the public. Many Muscovites demand to rename it because of the criminal acts of Pyotr Voikov, who is considered involved in the murder of the family of Nicholas II.
The question of renaming the station in November 2015 was even raised at the โActive Citizenโ electronic referendum. According to the results of the vote, 53 percent of the participants opposed the name change.
Despite the completion of the survey, public debate continues to this day. Deputies of A Just Russia propose assigning the name of Eldar Ryazanov to the Voykovskaya metro station. In 2016, Patriarch Kirill spoke about the inadmissibility of preservation in Moscow place names of P. Voikov.
