Off the west coast of Italy is the beautiful Italian city of Naples. According to ancient legend, the body of the nymph Partenope was found in the place where this city was founded.
It is contrasting not only in its location: the city is washed by the waters of
the Gulf of Naples, where the majestic and dangerous Mount Vesuvius stands. Here, modernity is intertwined with eternal antiquity, the rich villas are concentrated and there is a danger of close encounters with street thieves and smugglers.
The personification of Italy
Naples is seized with eternal passions and brings them down - together with national hospitality - to guests and tourists. Even those who live in other regions say that the true spirit of Italy is concentrated precisely in Naples. We also witnessed this when Sophia Loren herself showed us from the screen the exact image of the Italian and Italian lifestyle. Here, the clothes dry on the streets, one can observe "debriefing" between ardent Italian women.
Outside the city
Although located near the water of Naples, there are no beaches in the city. The coast is mostly rocky and it is rare to see sand. For vacationers, bays are located a little further, and you can get to them by water using a boat. But such a walk will open a beautiful view of the coastal cliffs.
The hotels abounding in Naples have beaches. But not everyone is a classic option. For example, when booking a hotel, you should find out if it is on a rock. Otherwise, tourists may be offered to go down to the beach in an elevator. By the way, it is possible that you will have to climb back into the hotel room along winding and uncomfortable rocky paths.
The main beaches of Naples are located outside the city. They can be reached by ferry, train or bus. Fans of beach holidays during the bathing season are waiting for specially organized routes.
Be sure to visit Ischia
40 kilometers from the city is the island of Ischia, which is considered the largest in the Gulf of Naples. Here is the Aragonese castle, standing on the elevation of a separate island, and other attractions. Tourists will enjoy a picturesque panorama: vineyards and citrus groves. Small bays and sandy beaches are concentrated here: Chiaia, Citara.
On the island there are parks for healing and restoration of the body called "Thermal". Arriving in Naples, the beaches of Ischia should be included in the list of planned places of visits. Naturally, you can get there by ferry, running every 30 minutes. Why should? Because it is here that you can enjoy a pleasant little water in the thermal pool, even when it is cool outside.
Positano - a paradise for tourists
If you have already arrived in Naples, whose beaches are quite peculiar, be sure to go to Positano, located only 60 km. Here lies Spyagia Grande - a pebble beach, on which, however, there are always a lot of people. But in Fornillo, which is characterized by sand of volcanic origin, on the contrary, there are relatively few people. Italians consider Positano to be one of the most romantic places not only in Italy, but also in the world.
Do not be frightened by the fact that the beaches of Naples (photo above) are a peculiar phenomenon, but there are many sights and features characteristic of the βnew cityβ.
