From the history of the city
The city of Pavlovsk was founded in the early 18th century. by the great emperor Peter I. By his order merchants from Azov and Taganrog were resettled here, thanks to which this place became an important shopping center. Initially, Pavlovsk played the role of a strategically important military shipyard and fortress. It is important to note that in the first period of the existence of the settlement, prisoners of war captured by the Petrine army in the Battle of Poltava were engaged in its arrangement . In 1711, Pavlovsk received city status. This place became the birthplace of the great Russian fleet. It was here, at the Pavlovsk shipyard, that ships were built that became the backbone of the imperial army. In addition, foundries and cannons were founded in the city. Guns, cores and bells were cast in their walls. That is why in the 18th century. the city was called "small St. Petersburg." Over time, a sewing factory also appeared here.

Shipova Dubrava
Pavlovsk (Voronezh region) has long been famous for its incredibly beautiful nature. The visiting card of this region is Shipova Dubrava. Locals call this ship forest the pearl of the Don region. And this is really a unique place! Among the steppes lies a whole green island with amazingly rich flora. Here you can see the mighty oaks, which are more than 150 years old! In addition, in Shipova Dubrava there are maples, linden, hazel. The fauna of this forest will also surprise travelers with its diversity. Martens, deer, foxes, wild boars, and roe deer live in the oak forest.
The most famous attraction of the forest are the Chernavskie springs, which the locals call the “Seven Wells”. Their waters contain a small amount of silver and are considered healing.

The real visiting card of Pavlovsk was the house of the merchant Odintsov. This is the most beautiful old building in the city. The Historical Museum is located on the ground floor, the workers of which will tell each visitor the most interesting information about the past of this region.
The building itself, once owned by the merchant Odintsov, fits perfectly into the architectural ensemble of the city. In addition, a unique front porch made of cast iron has been preserved here.
Theological county school
The spiritual district school in the city was founded in the first half of the 19th century. The children of local priests studied here. The school building was erected by the famous architect A.F. Shchedrin. It is an excellent example of the era of classicism.
Today, the complex of the Theological School includes 4 buildings and the Church of Three Saints.
Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God
This temple is located near the city Historical Museum. He is an excellent example of architecture of the late 18th century. The church was erected at the expense of Kazan merchants, transferred to the city on the orders of Peter I after the Battle of Poltava.
Today, in its building, beautiful 18th century icons are kept: Barsanuphius, Germanus and Guria.
Transfiguration Cathedral
In 1712, on the site of the modern Transfiguration Cathedral, a church was erected, named after Peter and Paul. She got her current name after 12 years.
