Creating holiday hairstyles is a whole art, and often turning to a hairdresser turns out to be a big expense. However, it is not necessary to go broke every time you want to become the queen of a party, as it is enough to decorate well-groomed curls with an unusual hairpin and you can safely go to conquer men's hearts. The rims, hair clips and elastic bands for kanzashi hair from satin ribbons that can be made independently look especially beautiful. Depending on the size, they are ideal for decorating hairstyles for girls of different ages, including everyday.
Simple option: what you need
If you want to learn how to make your own rubber bands in the style of kanzashi, then you should not immediately take up the creation of compositions with a lot of details, hoping to become the author of a masterpiece. Try to get a product decorated with one small flower first.
To do this, you will need:
- satin ribbon of red, white and green colors 4 cm wide;
- soft elastic for hair with braiding;
- scissors;
- rhinestones to decorate the middle;
- candle (lighter);
- satin ribbon with a width of 10 or 5 mm green;
- glue gun.
Manufacture
To get a flower of 5 petals, you need to cut 3 squares from a red satin ribbon 4 cm wide and 2 from white.
Further, each of them:
- doubled diagonally;
- turn with a fold up;
- create folds in the lower part 3 so that a petal is obtained;
- cut from the inside out;
- melt the slice on the candle flame and clamp it with your fingers to grasp.
As for the manufacture of the leaf, then, again, first cut out a square of green satin ribbon. Then:
- cut it along the diagonal;
- put halves on top of each other;
- they melt the long side and squeeze them with your fingers so that the halves stick together;
- again cut diagonally perpendicular to the seam to get two blanks;
- take one half and fold the sharp ends to the wrong side;
- “Glue” a leaf in the lower part on a candle flame;
- do the same with the second workpiece.
When all the petals and 2 leaves are ready, proceed to the design of the flower and gum.
Flower assembly
At the final stage of creating elastic bands for hair (kanzashi) use a glue gun.
Assembly is carried out as follows:
- glue all the petals so that a flower is obtained;
- decorate the center with rhinestone;
- from the wrong side, two leaves are glued to the flower;
- pressed with your fingers so that all the details are connected more tightly;
- a thin strip 5 cm long and 1.5 cm wide is cut from a green ribbon;
- fold in half;
- a drop of glue is applied to the fold;
- put the tape on the metal clip of the gum;
- glued so that the junction is close to the gum;
- straighten the ends of the strip;
- glued from the wrong side to the elastic;
- cut off the ends of the strip and grease with glue;
- impose a flower and press with your fingers.
What will it take to make a multilayer flower to decorate an elastic band?
Having mastered the technique of round petals, you can proceed to the creation of more complex products using the kanzashi technique. As in the previous master class, the basis of the product will be squares cut from satin ribbons of two different colors 3, 4 and 7 cm wide. As for the tools, you will need a glue gun, ballpoint pen, sharp scissors, a candle, a lighter, tweezers and ruler. You will also need a rhinestone or bead to decorate the middle of the flower and an elastic band with a textile braid, cotton threads in the tone of ribbons, thick cardboard and a needle.
Making a two-layer kanzashi-gum for hair: a master class
First of all, you should learn to glue a sharp petal. For this:
- a square cut out of a 7 cm wide satin ribbon is folded twice in a diagonal;
- repeat this action so that a new fold passes from the top of the right angle to the center of the hypotenuse;
- fold the workpiece for the last time;
- cut as indicated in the figure below;
- clamp the petal with tweezers;
- “Seal” the sections above the candle flame;
- do the same with another 13 squares of tape of the same color, 7 cm wide.
In the same way, petals are made for the second and third level of a flower for an elastic band for hair (kanzashi). They can be from the tape of the same or different colors with a width of 3 and 4 cm. In this case, 5 of them should be smaller and 9 more.
Assembly
Making a complex flower for do-it-yourself gum for kanzashi hair will require patience, especially at the last stage. Assembly is carried out in the following order:
- sew the ends of large petals so that a flower is obtained;
- a circle with a diameter of 3 cm is cut from a small piece of cardboard into the tone of a flower;
- staple together medium sized petals;
- first stick the first flower on cardboard;
- secured from above with a second pistol;
- glue together the smallest petals;
- from the tape that was used to make the first flower, cut a strip 1 cm wide;
- paste the third flower on two others and decorate in the center with a rhinestone or bead;
- the prepared strip is put under the rubber band so that the metal clip is on its center;
- put a drop of glue on it;
- fold the strip;
- straighten and trim the ends, leaving a cut length of 1.5 cm on each side;
- glued to a cardboard mug;
- tightly pressed.
Bezel with flowers and weaving: what you need
In addition to gum for kanzashi hair, you can make other hair ornaments in this technique. For example, a great idea is to make a rim with flowers with an original weave.
To do this, you will need:
- scissors;
- ruler;
- tweezers;
- lighter;
- file;
- glue (for example, “Moment – gel”);
- pencil;
- satin ribbon 400 mm long and 50 mm wide;
- a plastic rim for hair 1-1.5 cm wide;
- thread and needle;
- two satin ribbons of different colors about 150 cm long and 6 mm wide;
- beads, beads, buttons or other jewelry for the middle of the flower.
Rim braiding
Before making such a hair ornament, you need to burn the edges of thin satin ribbons. Then:
- drip a drop of glue on their inside;
- connected to a loop;
- pulling a dark green ribbon (N1) through a loop at the end of light green (N2);
- throw the end of N2 through the index finger on the left hand;
- pull it into the loop of the first tape;
- continue weaving until you get a pigtail equal to the length of the rim.

- remove the glossy layer from the surface of the rim with a file so that the pigtail sticks more easily;
- apply glue;
- impose a pigtail;

Headband decoration is created in the same way as for a kanzashi hair clip and elastic.
It can be in the form of a single flower or a bouquet with or without leaves. In this case, both round and sharp petals, including double ones, can be used.
There is another option for braiding the rim. This will require two very long thin satin ribbons of contrasting colors with a width of 2 and 1 cm. The rim is tightly wrapped around the entire length with the first ribbon and the ends are fixed with glue. Beads with a diameter of about 8 mm are put on the second. They wrap the bezel with it so that all the beads are on the outside. Fix the ends of the tape with glue. Decorate the product with a flower glued in the same way as already described.
