Idealism is, first and foremost, philosophy.

Idealism is a philosophical doctrine that assumes that only the spiritual aspects of our life are primary and main. According to this statement, the basis for being is exclusively consciousness, spiritual or mental. All the material that is in our world is nothing but a figment of the imagination or the result of the existence of a spiritual principle.

Now we will consider what forms of idealism exist, what their features are, and how they differ from each other. So, this philosophical doctrine is divided into two types: objective and subjective. In the first case, idealism presupposes the presence of a source, the main spiritual source, which has nothing to do either with matter or with the inner world of each specific individual. Perhaps this is the most exalted form of philosophy, in which strength, peace and greatness prevail. Subjective idealism is the conclusion of all material in the framework of a specific mind. Matter cannot exist without consciousness, or it is the result of human thoughts and actions.

Philosophy basics

More often than not, philosophers and sages who propagate this doctrine are based precisely on the objective current. In their understanding, idealism is the public mind, in which are norms, rights, common goals that everyone should strive for. A similar tendency can manifest itself in various branches of life, for example, in science. An idealist scientist will believe that everyone should strive to make some kind of discovery in mathematics or astronomy. A creative idealist can argue that any person is obliged to join the music, master the game on some instrument or be able to paint. In his opinion, without such skills, a part of the personality is lost.

In more accessible words, objective idealism is a generalization, the desire to unite everyone into something single. That is why idealists should not be present in politics. The irrationality of such judgments can lead only to war and riots in the state. Most often, idealists unite in their own circles, where they share experience and knowledge.

Imprints in history

Idealism originates in ancient Greece, and its "father" is Plato. After, through the authorities, the people were gathered under one faith, under the same traditions and moral norms, the thinker justified all this in his writings. At that time, people lived with heroes from myths, with gods and prophets, who most likely existed only in their collective mind. Later, objective idealism manifested itself in the Middle Ages, when the whole world obeyed the authority of the church. This is a vivid example of the Divine collective mind, where each person relied only on the Most High.

Representatives of idealism

In different epochs there were great people, thinkers who were original teachers who preached idealism. Among those in the era of antiquity lived Plato, Aristotle, Thomas Aquinas and Augustine. In the dark times of the Middle Ages, representatives of the idealistic model of society were numerous priests and pastors. Also among the thinkers who profess objective idealism, it is worth mentioning Hegel and Schelling.
