In the spring of 2013, the residents of Belgorod presented the terminal of the famous local airport. In the process of establishing a new branch of the airport terminal, the entire infrastructure of the nearby array has changed. Improved and transformed buildings, structures and communications.
Excellent performance
Belgorod Airport has a terminal that serves about 135 thousand people a year. Its main visitors are local residents, and the building itself acts as an important city attraction. Round-the-clock passenger check-in for flights to all directions takes place here, transportation is carried out along numerous domestic and international air routes. To book a flight, you can call the Belgorod airport, whose phone number is (4722) 358-657.
Reconstruction of the building and the surrounding area
In the first days and months after the reconstruction of the building, the leadership conducted an action on test flights, in which a large number of students and volunteers (150 people) took part. Also, during the first month, all services and communications were actively checked, the level of service, the technical side and the quality of work of the airport employees were evaluated. Testing was carried out by border control, customs inspection and other important structures.
Since 2010, major repairs were carried out, which provided a complete reconstruction of the area. Its start was the transfer of Belgorodavia OJSC to regional use from federal property.
History of becoming
Belgorod Airport appeared on the territory of Russia in 1954. At that time, the necessary medical workers and mail correspondence were actively transported to distant sections of the city. It was at that moment that the Kursk air squadron was moved to the city to help local residents from remote areas. The airport had several types of aircraft designed for two seats. The aircraft were single-engine, and landing was carried out on unpaved strips. Attendants, pilots and staff of the structure lived at the airport in small houses. In total there were about 20 people.
Three years later, more powerful four-seater cars began to be used. Aircraft such as the Yak-12, could carry local residents and a sufficient amount of cargo. At the same time, the staff and flight area expanded. The airport began to have its own meteorological station.
The main directions of flights
Year after year, the Belgorod airport is being improved, the number of aircraft units is being added. In addition, the possibilities of pilots are growing.
During the 60s, the flight radius of aircraft covered several cities, such as Anapa, Kiev, Sochi, Donetsk, Moscow, Poltava. By the 80s, there was the possibility of direct communication with Astrakhan, Tyumen, Simferopol, Lipetsk, Krasnodar, Murmansk and many other settlements. The first hangars were built at the airport, in which repairs and aircraft maintenance were carried out.
By 1985, the Belgorod airport became international. Flights began to depart to all major cities in the Caucasus, Ukraine, the Baltic states and Siberia. 1995 opens air borders with Turkey, Bulgaria, and Israel.
In the 2000s, the airport receives and makes flights to various destinations - China, Hungary, Cyprus and others. From this time, structural changes begin. In 2002, the Belgorod enterprise was transformed into the Belgorod State Aviation Enterprise. Then it was finally reorganized and renamed to JSC Belgorod Aviation Enterprise.
In 2005, management liquidated the flight squad and stopped using aircraft. Since then, Belgorod Airport has limited flights and regular flights have dropped significantly.
After the transfer of the airport to the ownership of the region, reconstruction, construction and repair work were actively started here.
New developments and design of the building
A specially created commission for reconstruction was clearly tracking every step and every meter of the upcoming large-scale construction. According to all points of the project, the airport building and the adjacent territory were subjected to the following changes:
- Extension of the runway. For the high-quality use of modern aircraft, the strip of the landing strip needed to be increased to such dimensions: 2500 m in length and 45 m in width. To enhance resistance to the upcoming load, the canvas itself was reinforced with a high-strength layer of asphalt concrete pavement.
- The increase in the reception of aircraft. The project is specially designed for the maximum convenience of accepting several air vehicles and their quick placement. Aprons, places for preventive and repair service were reconstructed, the number of parking lots for aircraft was significantly increased.
- Effective flight management. A new comfortable control room has been created to work at a higher level. The latest communications and radio navigation facilities have been installed. The new lights of the modern light-signal system will allow even in the worst weather conditions to clearly see the strip and calmly land the aircraft.
Belgorod Airport today
Given the magnitude of the large-scale operation, today it is one of the most modern places that can receive and place popular machines on its territory - Airbus-321, IL-76, Airbus-319, Tu-154, Boeing-737 and other aircraft models of all modifications .
The new Belgorod airport today serves the entire city and region. Over the next 10-15 years, he will undoubtedly remain one of the most efficient and powerful airports in the country. If you look at the building from above, it resembles a flying gull.
