Google Play services (Play Market) are often unstable, which causes a lot of crashes. As a result, the system notifies the user that an error has occurred in the Google Play Services application. Now it will be examined why such problems arise and how to deal with them, especially since they all have almost the same nature (the error of paid services related to buying or downloading applications is not considered).
Reasons for the appearance
If you look at the Google services provided in the standard set of any version of Android, the Play Market is not limited to one. Surely every owner of such a device saw that, in addition to the “Market”, there are a couple more services on the smartphone or tablet.
First of all, these are services like Google+, "Play Books", "Play Press", "Play Movies", etc. Their standard set depends on the version of the system itself or the installed firmware. However, the most common failure is precisely the error of the Google Play services. How to fix it will be considered a little later, but for now we will consider the root causes.
The fact is that in most cases the user deals with violations in the service itself, incorrect updating of the corresponding services, cluttering the application cache, the inability to identify the user logging into the system, etc. The most critical is the failure of the removable storage medium in the form SD cards due to viruses or physical damage.
Google Play Services: An error has occurred. What to do?
As for the appearance of failures of any type, it is immediately worth noting: there is no need to panic. Possible problems, although they may have various root causes of manifestation, are eliminated quite easily.
The simplest thing you can do in this situation is to use the usual reboot of your smartphone or tablet. Now it is understood that the error occurs either at the time the application is downloaded, or when updating programs and the service itself, or when identifying a user when entering the corresponding service. We assume that there are no interruptions in communication (there is no problem connecting to the Internet or a private virtual VPN network).
Google Play Error Types
So, the smartphone or tablet displays the message “Google Play Services: an error occurred due to such and such a failure. The code is such and such. ”
In principle, few people pay attention to fault codes, and rightly so. Regardless of them, in principle, it all comes down to only one thing: disruption of the service. As a rule, the system gives error notifications of the following varieties - 20, 400, 500 and 900.
True, it is worth making an exception for errors with codes 921 and 905. The first is an unknown failure. The second is the result of a “clumsy” update to the Google Play service. However, you can deal with all of them using several generally accepted methods.
Google Play Services: An error has occurred. How to fix it in the simplest way?
It is believed that rebooting the device is the easiest way to resolve errors of any type.
Well, the truth is, maybe there really was another failure in the system that was not related to the service. Here you need to pay direct attention to the completion of all active processes associated with processing files, downloading data or updating programs and services. If you turn off the device during some active service, it will not lead to anything good. Naturally, when a system or a process freezes, such a method can be used as one of the outputs. The data in this case, by the way, may be lost.
Solving problems with the application cache and browser
One of the main reasons that causes an error in the Google Play Services application is the overflow of the cached data folder, or more simply, all that is stored on the internal or external drive to work with some services (for example, visiting pages on the Internet) , offline.
To restore normal operation of the service, simply go to the main settings menu, select the Google Play service and use the clear cache button in the menu (without deleting data yet). As a rule, after such an operation, the error of the Google Play services will stop appearing. But this does not help in all known cases. The problem is how to identify the failure itself, because if there are different error codes in the message that appears, it is very difficult to guess what the problem is connected with, and the system does not give any explanations about this.
You can also try to clear the browser cache, especially if the default is Google Chrome mobile version. It is possible that there is a relationship between the service and the browser, and the data is simply duplicated, even if this is not indicated in the user settings (most often the user does not even know about dubbing, but does not even guess).
Data Deletion
Now - another side of the situation when a Google Play error occurred. How to fix it in another way? There is nothing easier than deleting data (there is a corresponding button in the clear cache menu).
Note: data deletion is in no way connected with the cache and usernames and passwords used (unless, of course, you also set their deletion). What is most interesting: it is recommended to carry out such an operation together with clearing the cache, although this is not always useful. In some cases, a Google Play service error may recur regardless of the actions taken. Why? It will now be explained.
Problems with Play Market Updates
Let’s take another look at Google Play services. An error has occurred. What to do in terms of service failures? Yes, it’s easy to remove either incorrectly installed or “clumsy” updates (by the way, the developers themselves say this, too).
We evaluate the situation when a Google Play services error occurs. What to do in this case? Enter through the settings menu the service itself, as described above, and use the uninstall button for the latest update.
Nothing wrong with that. The fact is that after the recommended reboot of the device with activated access to the Internet, the system independently, automatically updates to the latest version. That is, the installation of the update that caused the failure is absolutely excluded. This is recognized by the developers of Google. In theory, in some cases, the error of Google Play services is eliminated in this way.
Account management
Here's another method to fix most errors, not only on Google Play, but also on services like Google+. Often, incorrect user identification is present not only in the main service. If a situation arises when an error has occurred in the Google Play Services application, it is worthwhile to dwell on the “account” separately.
It may very well be that the entered username and password are simply incorrect. But most often, failures occur precisely with the correct registration entries. Roughly speaking, up to a certain point, everything worked, and then “flew out”.
Here you will have to first use the opportunity to delete registration data. This is done from the settings menu with the subsequent transition to the accounts where Google is selected. Note immediately: after confirming the Gmail email address, the removal will affect all Google services installed on the device.
However, do not despair. If you restart the system after shutting down, an attempt will be made to connect. There are two options: either create a new entry, or enter under an existing one. Choose the second option and enter your data. As practice shows, this method works almost always.
Reset to factory settings and hard reset
If nothing helps at all, and the error of the Google Play services appears again and again with enviable constancy (sometimes it happens, especially when experimenting with unofficial firmware), you will have to apply drastic measures.
First of all, you can reset the device to factory settings through the main menu. It goes without saying that some important data may be lost, in particular installed programs and applications. But what to do? Sometimes this can be sacrificed, especially since through the "accounting" recovery is not their problem. It is clear that user files will be destroyed, so initially you should make a backup (backup).
If this does not help, and the Google Play services error pops up again, how to fix it is worth considering. Most likely, you will have to do a full hard reset, called the term hard reset, which can even format the file system partitions. But this, as they say, is an emergency.
Instead of a total
As you can see, the very nature of the error is not particularly critical for the system. In most cases, such problems occur only due to malfunctions in the service itself or incorrect settings of the mobile gadget. Of course, it is possible that more serious errors may appear, however, the methodology for resolving problems is in a sense classical, since almost all errors of Google services are of the same nature.
But if you approach the issue of fixing errors, so to speak, in general, it seems that any owner of a smartphone or tablet will be able to solve such problems on a global level (in the sense - directly on the device, without resorting to third-party computer programs with the device connected to the terminal, which , in general, and is not required). It is enough to use standard methods, but the method for solving the problem can be cumulative (the execution of all the simplest actions).
