Before the creation of the Russian-language Internet, mailing, journalism, telephones, radio stations, and television appeared. With the development of telephones and computers, it was necessary to use technical devices to translate basic information into radio waves and electric pulses - then Runet was created. Later, people learned that Runet is a convenient portal for finding the necessary information. In the 1950s, computer data was exchanged with the United States.
The creation of Runet began with the international political network Fido. This network was technically imperfect and required knowledge of information technology from users. Therefore, having come to Russia, fidonet introduced many technical terms with it. In the 2000s, the use of the network fell sharply due to the rapid spread of new Internet technologies. The Internet has quickly spread throughout the country and around the world. Later, people began not only to use information from the Internet, but also to communicate on social networks.
In 1996, they launched the Runet search engine and defined its first chats. At the peak of popularity at that time was the site "Crib". In this chat, young people corresponded, which, according to their interests, were divided into rooms: for music.ru music lovers, avto.ru car enthusiasts. In 1996, the Tomkad service was launched, which was the first in Russia to send free exchange rates and weather forecasts via e-mail. In parallel with the services, media projects were also developed. One of the first popular publications was the evening internet of Anton Nosik, launched on December 24. He was the first Russian-language blog.
In 1996, the first Russian Sputnik network was launched. This network was engaged in sales of impressions purchased from banners. Internet advertising has developed as fast as the Internet. A symbol.ru store was created, in the assortment of which there are paper and electronic books, music, video.

The creators of Runet
Valery Bardin was one of the creators of the largest project. He was educated at the Moscow Engineering and Technology Institute, where he developed a unique project. It is known that Runet is a matter of his life; for this development he received many awards. In 1988, Bardin was awarded the honorary award "Unixization of the USSR."
Andrey Chernov also made a great contribution to the creation of Runet. Chernov took part in launching the RuNet and creating the first chats. He is a programmer by education. He also invented the encoding KOI8-R, thanks to which the alphabet in Russian was created, this encoding was used for a long time.
