Biography
Sergey Filin, whose photo is presented in this article, was born in Moscow in October 1970. The parents of the artist had nothing to do with art. Father was a driver, and mom was a housewife. He was not the only child in the family. He also had a sister, who also became a ballet dancer. Sergey Yuryevich started dancing at the age of seven. At first it was the Loktev ensemble. In 1979, nine-year-old Sergei starred in the movie "The sun in a string bag." Then there was training at a choreographic school, which Sergei successfully graduated in 1988. After completing his studies, he was immediately admitted to the Bolshoi Theater, to the ballet troupe. The ballerina Maria Prorvich is married to Sergei Filin. Children of the People’s Artist (two sons from their current spouse and one from their first marriage) have various hobbies. The younger father has hopes that he will become a dancer. The middle son loves to sing more and is going to take part in the children's Voice.
Dancer career
Sergey Filin was admitted to the Bolshoi Theater in 1988. He performed the first solo part in 5 years. It was the role of Prince Siegfried in the ballet Swan Lake by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. The next major role was a year later - James in the production of La Sylphide. In 1994, Sergey was awarded the Benoit de la Dance prize for his performance in the ballet Sleeping Beauty in the role of Prince Desiree. In 1995, S. Filin was declared the dancer of the year. And in 1996 he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Russia. Soon, Sergey began to travel with the Bolshoi troupe on tours abroad: to the USA, Portugal, Turkey, Brazil, Bermuda, Japan, Germany, England, Bulgaria and so on. In all the most high-profile premieres of the Bolshoi Theater, Sergei Filin was busy in the main parties. The artist took part in concerts, in anniversary celebrations. In 2002, Sergei Filin was nominated for a Golden Mask for his performance of Taor’s production in the production of The Pharaoh’s Daughter. But in the end, he did not take part in the competition. The theater management decided to remove this ballet from the repertoire. In the same year, Sergey took part in the production of La Sylphide together with Tokyo Ballet. In 2001, Sergey Filin received the title of People's Artist of Russia. In 2004, Sergey received the Golden Mask Award in the nomination for Best Actor for his performance in the ballet The Bright Stream. S. Filin completed his career as a dancer in 2008.

Artistic career
Sergey Filin completed his career as a dancer in 2008. After that, he began to serve as the artistic director of the ballet troupe of the theater named after Konstantin Sergeyevich Stanislavsky and Vladimir Ivanovich Nemirovich-Danchenko. In 2011, he returned to his native Bolshoi Theater, where for many years he was the prime minister. At the Bolshoi Theater, he also became the choreographer and artistic director of the ballet troupe
Attempt
In January 2013, Sergei Filin was attacked near his home. An attempt was made on him. An unknown man doused the ballet master’s face with acid. The organizer of the crime is the Bolshoi ballet soloist Pavel Dmitrichenko. The performer is his neighbor in the country, Yuri Zarutsky, who had already served his sentences in prison earlier. According to the leadership of the Bolshoi Theater, the motive for the crime lies in the fact that the organizer of the crime wanted to remove Sergey Yuryevich from his post and take his place. Sergey has been in treatment for several months in Germany. He underwent more than 20 operations. The choreographer could not restore his vision to the end. Those responsible for the attack were sentenced to 6 years in a maximum security colony. After undergoing treatment, Sergei Yuryevich returned to the duties of an artistic director. In 2014, S. Filin was hospitalized with a diagnosis of Quincke's edema. This happened due to the rejection by the body of the skin, which was transplanted on the face during plastic surgery. Now Sergey Yurievich continues to work at the Bolshoi Theater.
