Burning discs with built-in Windows 7 operating system

There are many software tools that are endowed with a feature such as burning discs. Traditional are Nero, Ashampoo Burning Studio, ImgBurn. But not all users know that in fact these programs are also intended for other actions, for example, burning discs from an image, removing an image, and others. If you just need to drop files onto a CD or DVD, but don’t want to bother downloading and installing additional software, it will help you burn Windows 7 discs, or rather, its explorer is a built-in universal tool with the necessary functionality for basic operations with optical carriers.

So what needs to be done to “burn through” an empty medium?

Select all the files in the explorer that you want to write. By right-clicking on the selected files, open the context menu, select "Send" - "DVD-ROM drive".

After the performed actions, the system will create a special temporary folder where these files will be placed. In Windows 7, burning discs is much easier due to the fact that the operating system does not need to search for files throughout the hard drive, and you do not need to collect all the necessary files and folders in one place.

After you select all the necessary files, insert a blank CD, DVD or Blu-ray into the tray of the burner drive of your computer, depending on the characteristics of which you can use certain laser media. In Windows Explorer, double-click to open the DVD drive. At the top of the dialog box, find the "Burn files to disk" button. Windows 7 offers to burn discs in two ways: to use the future optical media as a flash drive or with a DVD player. Conveniently, a description of each of the methods is immediately provided. If you are going to use the disk only using computers that have the Windows operating system installed, then the first option is suitable for you, otherwise choose the second. After clicking the “Next” button, you will see how the system formats the disk, that is, completely cleans and prepares it for recording, which takes some time.

After the recording process is over (it will be the LFS file system, in the case of preliminary recording selection as a flash drive), it is worth closing the session with the disk so that it normally opens on other computers. Microsoft envisaged performing this operation automatically when removing electronic media from a DVD drive, but it would be much more reliable if you performed this action manually using a simple instruction:

  1. Left-click once on the icon of the device on which the discs were recorded.
  2. On the toolbar is the button "Close Session", which must be clicked.
  3. Wait a bit.

It may happen that you forgot to perform the above procedure, in this case you should not be nervous. You can close a session on another computer before using it. Be sure to remember that to close the session you need about 20 MB of space on a recordable CD or DVD.

Windows 7 Explorer does not provide any extended control over information, nevertheless it is a standard tool that will give you the opportunity to quickly “burn through” optical media without any unnecessary problems. To burn discs with advanced options, use programs such as Nero or ImgBurn.
