To perform all of the above manipulations, you need a special program, the sound recording in which can be done very quickly and simply. One of them is Audacity. It can be easily downloaded on the Internet absolutely free of charge, just following the instructions that will appear during the installation process. This program takes up very little disk space, and even a child can use it.
After Audacity is installed, you need to prepare to record sound without any interference from the outside. Therefore, you need to optimize the space around you and make sure that all kinds of noises are as small as possible. To do this, close the doors tightly, as well as turn off all nearby devices that can make sounds that interfere with recordings. Even a mouse is best kept at a distance from the microphone, as clicks of its keys can also be recorded. To keep the sound recording as clean as possible, try to refrain from working with the mouse for this time or do it as quietly as possible.
The next step is to connect the headset to the computer. On the front panel of your system unit, you can see two round connectors of different colors. Plug the headphones into the green jack and the microphone into the red (or pink). Of course, you can get by with the microphone built into the web camera, but in this case the sound recording is unlikely to turn out to be of good quality. Therefore, the wired option is the most suitable.
After the headset is connected and the program is open, do the following: find the microphone icon under the buttons and put the slider located next to this function in the middle. If this parameter is set to the maximum mode, then the program will record the sound much worse, because along with the necessary audio track, external noise will be preserved. If you have speakers turned on, turn them off, otherwise you risk hearing your echo.
The next step is directly creating the record. To do this, click the "Record" button. It can be found in the upper panel of the Audacity program, among other buttons. Usually it is either completely red or white, but with a red or brownish circle in the middle. Before speaking into the microphone, wait 2-3 seconds, and then you can say any phrase or tongue twister, and then stop recording sound. by clicking the Stop button. It is indicated by a brown or yellow square in its center.
The resulting record can be saved. To do this, go to the "File" menu and select the option "Save project as." In the window that appears, you can select the file storage location, and then enter its name in the corresponding line (do not change the file type). You can listen to what happened by opening the folder in which you saved the recording. You can do this both through a regular explorer and through the program itself, by going to the File menu and selecting the Open option.
To listen to the audio recording you need to click the button with a green triangle-arrow in the middle. If what you heard suits you, you can proceed to your main recording. However, it is not necessary to save the recording immediately, because you can listen to it even after you click on “Stop”. If something did not satisfy you in the sound track, you can delete it. This can be done by selecting the waveforms with the mouse in the lower window and pressing the Delete key on the keyboard.
In addition, in this program you can not only record various sounds, but also edit them at your discretion. For example, you can change the pitch or tempo.
