The history of mankind has preserved to our days mainly the names of military leaders, kings and nobles. However, nothing is known about the millions who helped them conquer the thrones, build pyramids and discover new lands. All the more interesting is the story of Spartak - a simple warrior about whom over the past 2000 years more than one book has been written. In the last century, this historical figure has more than once inspired filmmakers. For example, in 2010-2013, the multi-part film “Spartak: Blood and Sand” was shot.
Plot
When a native country betrays, selling in slavery, not everyone can survive. The series “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” tells the story of the strongest man who is ready to fight as much as necessary.
When he was sold into slavery, he had to learn how to mercilessly kill in the gladiatorial arena in order to survive. The cruel audience enjoyed such shows.
Spartak lost everything he cherished: he was separated from his only beloved girl and forced to take other people's lives in order to save his own. In his new, cruel world, cruelty mixed with sex and glory rules. Here friends and enemies can be very similar to each other. You must be able to negotiate with them, and for this you have to be very tricky.
The main character will seek to seduce the authorities. The gladiator learns what merciless revenge is. But the desire for victory, amazing stamina and the presence of goals will help Spartak in the most difficult moments.
Andy whitfield
The story of this actor, who brilliantly coped with the difficult role of Spartak in thirteen episodes of the first season of the series, is very sad. Thirty-nine-year-old Andy Whitfield at first did not even suspect that there were serious health problems, and learned about them on the eve of filming the second season of the project.
Fighting some forms of non-Hodgkin lymphoma is incredibly difficult, but the actor has been fighting this type of blood cancer for eighteen months. Not only Whitfield's family was worried, but also his friends, as well as the creators of the series. Andy received letters from fans who were worried about the health of their beloved celebrity. All sought to help Whitfield in the fight against a serious illness.
At first, the treatment helped, and the actor planned to continue active work. The creators of the project, waited for Whitfield to the last, but the disease began to progress so quickly that in January 2011 everyone realized that the actor could not appear in his star role. After 9 months, the young man died, and the film "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" lost the main star. After all, it was Andy who was recognized in the first season as the best actor. He died in the arms of his beloved wife, from whom the actor left children. Whitfield's widow brings up a boy and a girl. When the father died, the children were very small.
Manu Bennett
Man Bennett had a chance to play a very complex and controversial role. The film "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" required a harmonious actor for the role of Crixus. It was necessary to play the best of the gladiators, the recognized champion of Capua until the moment Spartak appeared. Crixus himself is a leader by nature. Since the appearance of the newly-born slave, the champion of Capua could not stand Spartacus. And this despite the fact that the beginner at first constantly lost, suffering shame and ridicule.
Each view of Manu Bennett in the film is full of meaning. Therefore, Crixus has a rich facial expression. Actors like Bennett are rare.
Liam McIntyre
Actors "Spartacus: blood and sand" were selected in the film very carefully. The brilliant Andy Whitfield, who delighted the audience in the first season of the project, was very difficult to find a replacement. However, Liam MacIntyre, who, after recasting, got the role of Spartak, was approved not only by the producers, but also by his predecessor.
The new star of an already beloved work was originally known only for work in two Australian TV series. However, the creators of the film about Spartak noticed the talent of the actor. Nevertheless, in order to get the main one, the role of Liam MacIntyre had to go through a very difficult selection, as other stars also tried. However, it was he who managed to impress the producers of the project stronger than all the other applicants.
Supporting Roles (Spartak: Blood and Sand Actors)
As you know, the king plays the retinue. Actors "Spartak: blood and sand", selected for the supporting roles, also fell in love with the general public. For example, Craig Parker, who received the role of Rake in the project, according to his fans, coped with it in the best way.
The work of Tim Foley, who did an excellent job with the role of Hector, was also recognized as successful, so critics consider the film "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" a great success in his creative piggy bank.
The film “lit up” and the famous actor Josh Randall. He, with his characteristic skill, played one of the supporting roles.
