Every day, each of us is faced with such a concept as "speed". It can be the speed of a person or mechanical means, wind or water, linear or rotation. There are many examples. AND
Each indicator requires a separate
measurement method. This article provides an overview of instruments such as speed meters.
It turns out that there are a lot of such devices. Some are designed to measure the speed of vehicles, others - to characterize the movement of liquids or gas through pipelines, and others - to measure wind speed. However, there are a number of specific devices with a very narrow direction. These are, for example, instruments that measure the rate of blood coagulation or measure the rate of oscillation of solid surfaces in the range of ultrasonic frequencies. There are many others. In this article we will briefly review the main of such devices, as they are called and what they are intended for.
So, let's start our review:
1. Anemometer. This meteorological device is a measure of wind speed and gas flows. It consists of a blade or cup spinner mounted on an axis that connects to the measuring mechanism.
2. Anemorumbometer. This device, like the previous one, is also intended for measuring the speed and direction of wind and gas.
3. Atmometer. This is a device designed to measure the rate of evaporation of a liquid.
4. Velosimeters. These are measuring instruments for the speed of oscillation of solid surfaces in the ultrasonic range.
5. Pinwheel. This is a device designed to measure the speed of rivers.
6. Hemodromograph. This is one of the first devices that they began to use to determine the speed of movement of arterial blood.
7. The hemocoagulograph. This is a device designed to measure blood coagulation rate.
8. Gyrotachometer - a mechanism for measuring angular velocities.
9. Decelerometer - a device designed to measure the decrease in speed of various vehicles.
10. Microanemometer - a device used for measuring wind speed.
11. Neurotachometer. This is a mechanism used to measure speed, as well as the duration of sequential or single movements of limbs.
12. Nephoscope - a measure of the speed and direction of movement of clouds.
13. Perspectometer. It has another name - "wavemeter-perspective meter". It is used to measure various wave elements: length, height, period, speed, and also the direction of propagation.
14. A pneumotachometer is a device for measuring the maximum volumetric velocity of air flows during forced inspiration or expiration.
15. Radar - a location device. In a particular case, it is used as a vehicle speed meter.
16. Radioreflexometer - a mechanism for remote measurement of the speed of a reflex reaction. It has the function of transmitting information over the air.
17. Stopwatch - a household device for measuring the time of various processes.
18. Spectrocomputer - an astronomical instrument used to measure the difference in the radial velocities of two stars. He uses the Doppler effect on the relative shift of the spectral lines of stars in the spectra by combining photographs on the screen.
19. Speedometer - a measure of the speed of movement of land vehicles, as well as the distance traveled.
20. Tachymeter - a device designed to measure the flow rate of liquids.
21. Tachogenerator - a mechanism that determines the speed of rotation.
22. Tachometer - the same as the previous mechanism, is used to measure speed and speed.
23. Hot-wire anemometer - a measuring instrument of the flow rate of liquids and gases.
24. An electrospirograph is a device used to determine and graphically record the value of the volumetric rate of exhalation or inhalation.
25. Effusiometer - a device designed for automatic registration and measurement of gas density.
So, in a nutshell, we looked at various speed meters and determined the purpose of each of them.
