The car "Loaf", as the van was once called, was released by the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant. This name the car received because of its appearance. It turned out to be successful and was produced for almost 20 years under the brand UAZ-452. In 1985, the car changed the serial number, but the appearance remained the same. After another reorganization of production, the loafers were divided by model. For example, the serial number UAZ-29891 is a glazed van, 2206 received a passenger version, etc.
And although the plant now relies heavily on the Patriots and Hunters, the van is still being produced. According to the latest official data, in 2016 another change of the Loaf is planned. In this review, we will consider the UAZ-29891 car (technical specifications, parameters) and briefly touch on all modifications of the present, former and, possibly, future models.
The story of the "Loaf"
Most of the cars that received the UAZ emblem on the hood were assembled for official purposes during the Union. Such models did not enter retail sales, but were widely used by the military, police, and other government departments.
The first prototype of the modern UAZ-29891 was a van manufactured in 1955 at UlZIS (the UAZ factory was then called) with one rear door, a flat bottom and a convex front. Because of the stiffeners crossing the roof in the transverse plane, it resembled a rifled loaf. Hence the popular name went. After 10 years, in 1965, the plant was renamed, as well as the modernization of the first model of the van. A side door appears, which immediately transfers the car to the category of cargo-passenger, two are put in place of one rear, and a model is being provided to government departments, which is being produced now. Under the orders of individual enterprises, the door configuration changes, individual units inside (as in an ambulance), but the main parameters remain constant.
Modern "Loaf"
In 1985, a large modernization of production took place, but the Loaf, changing the serial numbers, as well as part of the components, continued to go off the assembly line. Most of the parts were new, but some continuity with the original units remains. In this case, the reason is that strong changes will hit the hallmark of the old "Loaf" - cross-country ability. Dependent suspension is used in both bridges of the car, which is a necessary condition for maintaining high clearance when moving large obstacles or when moving at an angle.
The maximum number of seats depends on the model, but the consumer must remember that the van was originally conceived as a system. And if you have a glazed UAZ-29891 van with 7 seats, then it will be easy to make a passenger version (2206) with 10 seats from it. Speaking of systematic nature, we can add that in the roof of the car there is a place for the hatch (although the hatch itself may not be). In version 3741 (cargo van) stamping is done for windows, although there are no windows themselves. In general, the modern "Loaf" is a unified car, and the ability to switch off all-wheel drive allows it to get to where the road is or simply is not, or it leaves much to be desired.

UAZ-2206 is a car that you rarely see on city roads. This is the passenger version of the Loaf. By the number of seats it is comparable to the familiar minibus - Rafik or Gazelle, but unlike them it has all-wheel drive, like all the models described below.
UAZ-3741 is a purely cargo variant. Three hinged doors on the sides, two at the rear, an all-metal wagon.
3962 (39629) and 39625 - ambulances. The first one has fasteners for a stretcher, a partition with a sliding window between the driver and the rear, and places for installing sanitary equipment. It is equipped with flashing beacons and rotary lamps on the roof. The second does not have external beacons, but inside it differs only in the interior - there are no special fasteners for a stretcher or equipment. Most similar to the UAZ-29891 (photo of the second model is presented below).
UAZ-3909 and 39094. The main difference between the models is the body (known as the "Farmer"). Both cars have 5 seats, the same engine power, but if 3909 is a van, then 39094 has become a shortened onboard truck. There is a partition between the compartments, a voluminous trunk and at the same time the number of seats for a small company.
Fuel performance
Since most of the instructions still contain old model names, users of new cars have a question about what is the fuel consumption rate for UAZ-29891. The answer is simple. Based on the above systematic nature, these parameters can be viewed with any modern Loaf, even version 3741 mentioned earlier. Some users note that it is better to look at the data on the 396255 machine. But in fairness, we note that this is not entirely accurate. There is a model, a variant of which is the van described by us. This is the passenger version of the Loaf - version 2206.
It is she who is a kind of prototype of our UAZ-29891. Fuel consumption and other necessary parameters of a glazed van can be viewed according to its specifications, adjusted for the fact that there are fewer people and more cargo.

Since all UAZ vans are produced according to one pattern, we will consider the parameters for only one model, UAZ-29891. The technical characteristics of the machine are as follows: a 2.7-liter gasoline engine can accelerate the van to 127 km / h, 112 hp, AI-92 fuel, 13.5 liters per 100 km. Reviews
Unlike other automobile brands of Russia in the 21st century, UAZ did not radically change the appearance of its cars. And although the machines became available to the ordinary consumer, they did not differ much from models produced for official needs during the Union. At UAZ Hunter, for example, the only external difference from the 469th model was the roof. So the UAZ-29891 appeared. The photo of him, presented below, differs in only one detail from the “Sanitary Woman” 39625, whose photo see above, by the absence of red crosses on the case.
The situation is also with reviews of these models. As already mentioned, UAZ was not in a hurry to introduce any fundamental changes. And if the “Goat” subsequently became the “Hunter”, then the appearance of the “Loaf” remained the same. Instead of the old models, new versions of the old cars appeared. So it happened with the UAZ-29891. Reviews of this model practically word for word repeat what is noted in 2206, 396255 or 39095.
Conclusion
Despite the fact that UAZ is actively promoting the Patriot and other models, the Loaf is still going to the factory, one of the representatives of which can be called the UAZ-29891. Although the specifications for this model are difficult to find, it is not much different from the UAZ-2206 minibus, the UAZ-39625 Sanitary Wagon, or the UAZ Combi variant .
