Depending on the type of material, prices for spinning stands will vary. So, the most expensive will be metal products. They look solid, last a long time, but by themselves are quite heavy. The glass stand will cost a little less and will have a light presentable appearance. Caring for such coasters is easy, unlike plastic and wood, they do not absorb particles of products and keep their appearance for a long time.
A wooden stand will look solid, it costs a little cheaper than glass. The advantages are naturalness and attractive appearance. With proper care, it will last quite a long time, but over time it may lose color, chips appear. A spinning plastic stand is the cheapest option. It is lightweight and comfortable. But such a stand with frequent use may require replacement quite quickly, just like a plastic cutting board.
There are also special stands with electric motors. They have the shape of a cylinder, can not only rotate, but also tilt at an angle. They are used at various large-scale culinary exhibitions and master classes to demonstrate sweet masterpieces.

To begin with, you should decide which kind of stand is more suitable for work - round or square. Then choose the diameter based on how large the items are usually decorated. The diameter of the stand circle can be from 20 to 40 cm. The material of the stand must be selected depending on personal preferences, finances and purpose of use. It is clear that the novice mistress does not need to spend money on an expensive metal stand, which, perhaps, will gather dust most of the time. But for the manufacture of cakes to order, you can spend money on a more expensive thing for convenience and speed.

DIY spinning stand
Making a turntable yourself is not so difficult.
1. You will need two bearings (or one double), the base connecting the tube and the top of the table. Bearings are available at auto parts stores. The basis for self-production is taken wooden. It can be plywood, a sheet of chipboard, or you can even cut a circle of the desired diameter from suitable old furniture. The connecting tube may be metal. The top can also be carved from wood.
2. Two circles of the desired diameter are cut. In one of them make a hole in the middle and insert the bearing. It can be double, or you can take one more, and the second less, and connect them. Then the two circles should be connected using liquid nails and self-tapping screws. This will be the stand, providing rotation of the rack.
3. Using a metal tube, connect the top and double bottom to the bearings. It is important that the tube fits tightly into the bearing. The top is attached to the tube by cold welding, if it is made of metal. If it is double, from two glued circles of plywood or chipboard, then in the bottom make a hole equal to the diameter of the tube, and insert it.
4. To give the whole design an aesthetic appearance, the top and bottom can be finished with adhesive wallpaper. This will facilitate maintenance and extend the life of the turntable.
