Fingerprint examination

Fingerprint examination allows you to identify a person by fingerprints of his hands. In addition, it helps to understand how the suspect behaved at the crime scene. In some cases, fingerprinting helps to determine the culprit. Forensics has been using it for a long time, constantly improving fingerprint research methods. Today it is used in all developed countries of the world.

Fingerprint examination:

- allows you to detect fingerprints on objects located at the crime scene, as well as on his guns;

- provides an opportunity to find out how the criminal kept the instrument of crime, the features of the structure of his hands, and so on;

- allows you to find out when fingerprints were left;

- establish how many people have visited the crime scene;

- prove the presence of a particular person in a particular place.

Traditional means of fingerprint examination: special powder and film. In general, it can be done in different ways. Professional expertise is carried out using the most modern technical means. Often they have a complex device and are expensive.

Forensic fingerprinting is necessary for the detection and also the examination of fingerprints. It is used in most criminal cases, it is considered the surest way to identify the witnesses and criminals. It can be used in civil matters.

Fingerprint films with trace marks on them are the subject of this examination. Also objects that can be attributed to those items whose prints were erased, data stored in documents of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The latter contain fingerprints of specific individuals. In the future, they can be used for reconciliation. Today, fingerprints are entered into the computer. Modern programs allow you to quickly compare the samples obtained with those stored in archives. If a person whose fingerprints were found at the crime scene has already been prosecuted, his identity will be established pretty soon. Of course, this is only possible with the necessary equipment.

During fingerprint examination, papillary patterns that are present in the hands of people are studied. Derma is the skin itself. It consists of a mesh and papillary layer. The shape of the elevations of the papillary layer is peculiar. Basically, their differences are in height. In those places where they are not, the skin is smooth. In other places, one can observe linear elevations of various forms. The feet also have smooth spots and elevations. A curious fact is that the patterns on our arms and legs are restored, even if severe dermis damage has occurred. The restored patterns are completely identical to those that were before the damage. Changes are possible only if the papillary layer has been damaged.

Fingerprint examination is based on the fact that each person has individual fingerprints. For many years, criminology has been using equipment that allows you to accurately compare samples and establish the identity of people. A person can be identified even by those fingerprints that were taken from him many years ago. It has already been said above that patterns on the dermis are restored. Now it’s worth adding that they do not change over the years.

Fingerprint examination at the crime scene should be carried out as quickly as possible. This is due to the fact that over time new prints may appear on objects, old ones will be erased, and so on. First of all, prints are taken from those objects that can somehow change due to precipitation.
