Dmitry Volkostrelov - a name not so long ago sounded on the theatrical stage. The man who made even people who made modern theater and cinema the way we know them now talk about themselves. In order to stir up the intellectual and sophisticated audience of St. Petersburg, it is not enough just to be talented. In order for the masters to whom the audience is reverent to speak, it is not enough just to be lucky.

How it all began
Dmitry was born on August 17, 1982 in Moscow. Hometown has become a reference point for a young ambitious guy who at 16 decided to cross the threshold of MGUKI (Moscow State University of Culture and Arts). Moreover, a promising young man successfully entered the university in the specialty of “directing and acting”.
Four years of study and the constant search for their own niche in the field where, it would seem, everything has already been said and played, attracted the attention of teachers. By the time the young director was released, there were hardly any doubts that Dmitry should continue to study on a more serious basis.
So, in 2002, Dmitry Volkostrelov was at the St. Petersburg Academy of Theater, on the course of Lev Dodin, where until 2007 he grasped higher school in his chosen specialty.
Becoming an actor
While still a student, Dmitry Volkostrelov began to try on a complex and new genre of theater art - a one-man show. The idea captured him, but the project over the first production - it was “July” by Ivan Vyrypaev - lasted for 3 whole years. The reason was one after another emerging tapes with the participation of a newly graduated actor, and only the third of them - the film "We are from the Future" by Andrei Malyukov, brought Dmitry fame and recognition.
Then series, films with fastening, confident roles of the main characters and catchy characters follow, until in 2010 Volkostrelov-director got the better of Volkostrelov-actor.
Then in the framework of the theater laboratory of St. Petersburg "ON. Theater ”was read and a play of a new vision,“ Locked Door ”, of the sufficiently discussed and famous playwright Pavel Pryazhko, was staged. The success of the production was unexpected - the two main project awards. Encouraged by his first experience, Dmitry quickly finishes and leads the protracted “July” onto the stage.

The mobile and easily moving theater association “Post Theater” - Dmitry Volkostrelov’s own brainchild, created by him in 2011, one after another gave 5 performances to the intellectual Petersburg audience Pryazhko. Dmitry’s ideological mastermind, as if challenging standard concepts, sculpted scenarios like a sculptor on raw clay - ignoring generally accepted canons. And Dmitry Volkostrelov, whose photo is posted in the article, embodying his plan, led fans of contemporary art deep into their personal perceptions of what was happening.
Meanwhile, the actor’s cinematic experience is expanding. Dmitry Volkostrelov, whose filmography was replenished with the highest grossing ribbons, is removed in the paintings by the method of complete transformation into a hero. “Tula Tokarev”, “Escape”, “Escape 2”, “Payback” - and with each role, the charismatic personality of the “complex simple” person showed exactly what Dmitry conveyed to the public from the scene, recreating the aesthetics of the real world in all its nakedness .
Willingly sharing his plans for future productions, Dmitry Volkostrelov carefully ignores questions about his personal life. His whole public life is spelled out in his work, and to create an advertisement for himself at the expense of the curiosity of the masses is clearly not to his liking.
Prizes and awards
For the directorial staging of the performances: “July” (2011), “Angry Girl” (2012), Shoot-get treasure-Repeat (2013) - Dmitry each time becomes the winner of the youth theater prize “Breakthrough” in St. Petersburg.
Based on the above performances, Dmitry was awarded the title of laureate of the Action to support theatrical initiatives in 2012.
For joint creative work with K. Pestrukhina at the Golden Mask festival, Dmitry receives a separate award from the jury of the Drama Theater - 2013.
The most expressive and characteristic role at the moment of the modest and impulsive boy Beroev in the film "We are from the Future" brought Dmitry an award from the XII All-Russian Festival of Visual Arts for the best male role.
