The browser helps us surf the Internet, browse the pages and find the information we need. Through it, any search query is carried out, any operation that is performed on the network. Unfortunately, even the most modern of such programs is not safe from malfunctions. Often after inaccurate user actions, normal browser operation is disrupted. For example, if you set the wrong settings, it may happen that the browser does not open the page or does it so slowly that there is not enough patience. It should also be said that malfunctions can occur not only through the fault of the person who works at the computer. The reasons are actually a great many. Below are just a few of them. Those that are most common.
Viruses, malware
So why does the browser not open pages? The first thing that comes to mind: a computer picked up some virus on the Internet. It is known that many of the malicious programs are aimed specifically at browsers and the Internet connection in general. A hooked virus can be a Trojan that gets onto a computer as an allegedly useful file. Then the user will not even notice at what exact moment the problems started. This also includes rootkits and various "worms".
Solution: scan your computer for viruses. Here you can use the full scan of the antivirus that you have installed, or special utilities to search for trojans (AVZ and others). If there is any doubt about the effectiveness of the installed antivirus software, it is better to change it. Detected viruses are removed, we reboot the computer.
Other software
Another reason that, as a result, no browser opens the page, may be due to the installation of additional background programs. Especially those whose work is based on the transmission and receipt of information from the Internet. Of course, among such utilities there are necessary and useful. For example, a download wizard or various torrents. It is important to be able to distinguish really needed software from useless and potentially dangerous. Among the latter is the SkyMonk program and third-party utilities for updating the operating system like Bonjour. By the way, the native OS Update Center also interferes with the normal operation of the browser.
Solution: turn off the automatic update of Windows, in no case do not use third-party programs that are persistently offered to download, especially if you do not know why you need them at all. SkyMonk is best removed immediately.
Full memory, extra entries.
All browsers have a special type of memory in which the most popular search queries are stored. Accessing it requires less time, so the overall page loading speed increases. Such memory on a computer slang is called a cookie or a cache. When it is full, problems arise, one of which may be that the browser does not open the page. The cause of the problem is often the full disk of the system disk. Usually there is a special restriction on them, which not everyone pays attention to. However, it is better if there is the very minimum amount of free space that it asks for on drive C. The registry is also recommended to regularly check and clean from old records that remain after installing / uninstalling programs. Special utilities for its optimization will help in this matter, simplifying the task to a few clicks of the mouse.
Solution: clean cookies. You can use the CCleaner cleaning program or do everything manually. In most browsers, this is done in a very similar way, with slight differences. In Mozilla, just go to Tools, then to Settings, where in the Privacy section there will be a button “Clear Recent History”. This is the cache. It is also recommended to free up the required space on the system disk and clean the registry. Vit Registry Fix or Registry life programs are suitable for the latter, although the above CCleaner will do the job.
Paranoid Antivirus
Most antiviruses have several modes of operation for ease of use. They differ in varying degrees of computer protection from external threats, and there are very meticulous options. If you select this mode, the program will carefully check each incoming connection. This, in turn, can be another reason why the browser does not open the page. This includes other protection programs, such as firewalls and OS firewalls. It is necessary to carefully choose their mode of operation, as it can not only protect the computer from real threats, but act at the expense of the user's interests.
Solution: disable the firewall, replacing it with a good firewall (by the way, many browsers already have built-in protection). Make antivirus settings less strict or disable firewall and Internet services. If this does not help, do not forget to put everything in its place.
Of course, the wrong connection protocol, slow Internet and outdated equipment will also play a role. But this is understandable to everyone, so it makes no sense to describe these problems in detail. The only thing that can be advised if all of the above did not help is to check the network settings of the connection. To do this, open the properties of the network interface and see if the checkmarks are in front of the corresponding items. Particular attention should be paid to “TCP / IP Internet Protocol”, “QoS Packet Scheduler” and “Client for Microsoft Networks”.
