Magomed Yevloyev is a well-known domestic human rights activist, lawyer and journalist. By nationality, Ingush. Public figure who created the site "Ingushetia.ru". It was a popular Internet portal, which since 2001 posted materials that went against the official position of the authorities of the republic, it was considered the main opposition media. The publication was repeatedly subjected to hacker attacks. Evloev himself in 2008 was killed in Magas under mysterious circumstances.

Magomed Yevloyev was born on November 22, 1971. He was born in the city of Malgobek in Ingushetia. In 1992, he became a graduate of the Law Institute in Saratov.

Since 1993, he began his professional career in the republican prosecutor's office. In the late 90s, he lost his place in the security forces after being suspected of complicity in the murder of Tsechoyev. Security officials suspected him of kidnapping businessman Keligov. Suspicions against the hero of our article were never proven and justified, but he was fired from the prosecutor's office.

After that, in 2001, Magomed Yevloyev founded the closed joint-stock company Infra-Holding, which he himself began to lead as president. The company included manufacturing and legal firms that worked in various industries. He also created the company Infra North America, which was based in the United States, directly in San Francisco.

At the head of an opposition publication

In September 2001, Magomed Yakhyaevich Yevloyev began managing the Internet portal Ingushetia.ru. He became its CEO and main owner. The publication began to publish materials and publications that did not correspond to the position of the current Ingush authorities, contradicted everything that was stated by the regional government.

Magomed Yevloyev directly managed the publication until December 2007, after which he transferred the management of the resource to the editorial board. However, he remained the owner of the site, but ceased to have at least some influence on the editorial policy. By that time, the portal was already booming as the main opposition media in the region, and was well known far beyond its borders.

In June 2008, the Moscow district court upheld the appeal of the Ingushetia prosecutor’s office to ban further activities of the site because of allegations of inciting ethnic hatred and the appearance of extremist publications. Later, this decision was confirmed by the Moscow city court.

Murder

On August 31, 2008, Yevloyev arrived in Ingushetia by plane from the Russian capital. On board with him was the president of the republic Zyazikov. At the exit from the airport he was detained.

Later it became known that at 15:55 he died in a republican hospital, where he was brought with a gunshot wound to the head. According to the results of the investigation, the investigation opened a criminal case on the fact of causing death by negligence. The regional Interior Ministry told reporters that the murder of Magomed Yevloyev happened by accident.

Soon the details of his detention became known. Law enforcement agencies showed interest in him because of a criminal case about the explosion of a house of a high-ranking official of the republican government Zalimkhan Hautiev. According to investigators, after the explosion, Yevloyev called the victim, claiming that he knew who planted the bomb.

Opposition rally

He was also suspected of organizing a rally in the capital of Ingushetia on January 26, which culminated in riots.

According to the Interior Ministry, Yevloyev’s supporters attempted to free him at the airport. Because of this, the police put the weapon on alert. According to law enforcement agencies, Yevloyev tried to seize the automatic machine of a policeman, who was located behind. Then the employee, who was in the front seat, pointed a Stechkin pistol at him. He claimed that a further shot occurred by accident.

According to one of the supporters of the murdered, Magomed Khazbiev, the body of Yevloyev was thrown out of a car near the hospital with a wound to the temple. The next day, the opposition’s funeral took place.

Personal life

Relatively little is known about the family of Magomed Yevloyev. After his murder, he left a spouse and three minor children. Journalists, in particular, mentioned the names of his two sons - 7-year-old Ismail and 12-year-old Umar.

Investigation

The death of Magomed Yevloyev had a great resonance. Especially after a week before his death, he said that he and his supporters received threats from the authorities of the republic.

In October, the investigation officially announced that the death of Yevloyev was due to an accidental shot, which was fired by an escort. Soon it became known that the decision to bring the deceased to interrogation was issued after his death. The family of the opposition insisted on retaking the case on the article "Intentional murder".

Sentencing

Instead, in March 2009, a lawsuit was filed against the abuse of authority against law enforcement officials who conducted legal detention. The negligence charge was brought against Ibragim Yevloyev. He headed the guards of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ingushetia. According to the investigation, during the movement of the car, a fight for weapons ensued between him and the deceased, as a result of which an involuntary shot was fired from a pistol.

The court found him guilty, sentenced to 2 years in a penal colony. A few months later the sentence was commuted. He was replaced with 2 years of restraint of liberty. 5 months after this, Ibrahim Yevloyev was killed in the cafe "Oriental Tale" by unknown people. The murder remained unsolved.

Effects

Significant consequences were the death of Magomed Yevloyev. Photos of the opposition were distributed by all the leading media in the country. His associates accused the authorities of intentional murder. The Human Rights Center "Memorial" said that this is another fact of state terror.

Especially zealous oppositionists even stated that if the federal authorities did not take decisive measures, they would turn to the world community with a request to contribute to the independence of Ingushetia.

The funeral of a journalist turned into a rally. People gathered on it declared that the head of the republic Murat Zyazikov was involved in the murder of the hero of our article, and demanded his resignation and arrest.

The murder of Magomed Yevloyev

The next day, the situation in Nazran was still turbulent. In the morning, another rally began, but it was dispersed, special equipment took the place in the square. At the same time, the prosecutor's office denied the use of force.

The State Duma expressed concern about the situation in Ingushetia. On September 10, Nazi’s cousin Bekhan was shot dead in Nazran.

Resignation

The scandal put an end to the political career of the President of Ingushetia. Journalists compared his situation with that in which Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma found himself after the death of journalist George Gongadze.

Yunus-Bek Evkurov

On October 30 of the same year, Zyazikov was dismissed by decision of the President of Russia. The rally participants demanded that his predecessor Ruslan Aushev be returned to the leadership. However, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov was appointed the new head of the republic. He remains in this post until now.

Murat Zyazikov

Zyazikov then became an adviser to the president of Russia, remained in this position until 2012. Then he received the post of deputy plenipotentiary of the head of state in the Central Federal District.
