Avast is a functional and free antivirus software. It provides a fairly good level of protection. At the same time, there are a number of cases where PC security plays a key role, and the protective functions of an antivirus program should provide comprehensive, detailed protection in all directions.
In the paid versions, these features are well developed and in order to install such a product on a computer, you first need to figure out how to remove Avast. Two anti-virus monitors from different manufacturers on a computer are usually not used.
Avast Removal Tools - Windows XP
Avast can simply be uninstalled in the usual way. This path is a standard measure that allows you to imagine how to remove Avast 6 and similar solutions using regular Windows XP tools. To do this, use the Add or Remove Applications feature.

Procedure
- Find on the network and copy the aswclear.exe application to the local computer. I strongly recommend downloading this tool only from official or verified sources.
- The utility is written in English, so if possible there will be a small translation of its interface into Russian.
- Before booting Windows XP, press and hold the f8 key.
- When the boot menu appears, use the up and down arrow keys to select the “safe mode” option. This must be done before removing Avast.
- Run the downloaded tool to run. The program displays the “select product to uninstall” entry. In this field you need to select the Avast solution that you want to remove.
- The next item is “enter to folder where selected product is installed.” (indicate the path where the product is installed). This option should be considered if during the installation of Avast you specified a directory other than the standard one.
- To start the uninstall process, click on the “uninstall” button. The program will analyze the contents of the selected directory and registry. The duration of the task is about 2-3 minutes, depending on the speed of the PC.
- Once the cancellation of the installation is complete, you will need to restart the computer. And the program will ask you about this dialog: “Remaining items will be removed after restart. Do you wish to restart now? ” (Some content will be deleted after the restart. Would you like to restart the PC now?). Click the "yes" option for an instant reboot.
