Users of the tenth version of Windows quite often come across the fact that the "Application Store" does not work in Windows 10. Why is this so, because until a certain point everything was in order? It is further proposed to consider the possible causes of the appearance of dysfunction of this component, as well as several basic methods that, in most cases, can eliminate problems.
Why Windows Store isn’t working?
Unfortunately, there can be a lot of reasons that can disrupt the operation of this component of the system. However, I immediately want to warn that issues related to viral exposure will not be considered.
So, if the "Store" in Windows 10 stopped working, almost all experts call the following as the main reasons:
- violations in the registry;
- errors of the WSService service, which is one of the components of the "Application Store";
- damage to system files;
- incorrectly installed updates.
As you can see, only the second item has a direct relationship to the "Store". And in most cases it will be necessary to eliminate the arisen failures at the level of adjustment of the entire system.
Windows 10 Store doesn't work: what to do first?
The first and universal solution is to perform system recovery. You can do this in different ways, but it’s better to use the appropriate section in the “Control Panel” as the first solution, and then select the time point when the applet was still working.
In some cases, if the failure was not related to system files and components, this technique will help.
Create New Account
However, it may well be that there is another reason that the Store in Windows 10 does not work. The solution to this problem may consist in logging in with a different account, and if it is absent, create a new registration.
You can, of course, use the appropriate sections of the options menu or the “Control Panel”, but then you will need to create an account and register administrator rights for it. The process is quite long.
Therefore, the easiest way is to use the command console (cmd), which must be run as administrator, and execute two commands:
- net user NAME / add;
- net localgroup Administrators NAME / add (on both lines NAME is the name of the user to be created).
After that, you need to log into a new account and check the operability of the "Store" in it. If everything is in order, the old record can be deleted.
Fixing a problem using a utility from Microsoft
But the above methods do not always help, and again the problem arises that the "Store" in Windows 10 does not work. The solution offered by Microsoft is to download a special utility called Troubleshooter from the official website, which is designed to find and fix problems with built-in Windows applets and services.
After starting the program, scanning starts, after which a solution to troubleshooting will be offered (usually the installation of pending updates). We agree with the installation and wait for the completion of the process.
Next, a patch confirmation window will appear. If this does not happen and the "Store" in Windows 10 does not work, the solution to fix the problem may consist in the next step.
Registry Actions
You can also use the registry editor (regedit) and change some important keys. To do this, go through the SOFTWARE directory of the HKLM branch to the Services section in the ControlSet001 directory.
Here, in the SystemEventsBroker folder, set the Start parameter to 2, find the same parameter in the TimeBroker directory and set it to 3. After that, the system must be restarted.
Checking system files
It is possible that some critical system files were damaged or their integrity as a result of unforeseen crashes was violated.
To correct the situation, you need to run the command line, again, on behalf of the administrator, and then register the combination sfc / scannow in it (this is a universal tool for fixing problems with the integrity of system components). After that, it is necessary to perform a complete restart of the computer, again call the command line and use the execution of a command with the DISM operator in it, as shown above.
Flush cache
It may be that, after the above actions, the "Store" in Windows 10 does not work. The solution to fix the problem may be to completely flush the cache. Most often this concerns its damage and the appearance of internal errors of the “Store”.
The fix is to call the Run console (Win + R) and write the wsreset reset command in it. If the problem was precisely this, upon completion the applet will open without problems.
Re-registering a component through PowerShell
Finally, if none of the above helps, you will have to re-register the components of the "Store". To do this, you need a PowerShell console.
It is called by the combination of the same name from the Run menu with administrator rights. After that, the line shown in the image above is written in it. Errors may occur during execution. Lines indicating this will be marked in red. Nothing wrong. This, in principle, can be ignored. Upon completion of registration, the system must be restarted.
What else can I use?
In some cases, the Software Repair Tool, also developed by Microsoft, can be called a very effective tool.
After starting during the scanning process, approximately fifty percent of the progress will require a reboot, and after restarting the process will automatically be activated again. If problems are found, the utility will offer a solution, and upon completion of the correction, a corresponding confirmation window will open.
In some cases, you can not perform a system restore, but immediately remove the updates, after installing which the applet stopped working. You can do this in the programs and components section, then reboot the system, set up a manual search for updates and exclude from the list all those that caused violations of the Store, or install updates again (perhaps at some stage of the installation a failure )
