About the theater
This collective is at the origins of all the theatrical art of the city of Cheboksary. Children's Puppet Theater opened its doors in 1943. Initially, it was mobile. He was based in the city of Yadrin, and in 1944 he was transferred to Cheboksary. The troupe was created from Leningrad actors evacuated from the besieged city. The director of the theater was S.M. Merzlyakov. Thanks to him, the troupe was replenished with young talents who became the pride of the city of Cheboksary. Puppet theater in 1945 received the status of a state. At the same time, for the first performance, which was called "Three Girlfriends," dolls were made.
In its work, the theater turns to the works of world literature for children, to the plays of the Chuvash playwrights and to modern authors.
Thanks to the professionalism of the actors, the troupe works at a high level. The theater is recognized not only in Chuvashia, it is known and loved far beyond the borders of the republic. Actors actively participate in various festivals and demonstrate their skill and identity, causing residents of other regions to interest in the culture of Chuvashia.
Cheboksary puppeteers created and implemented twelve projects. The most notable of them are “A fairy tale has come to your house”, “Art treatment”, “We don’t need to be the same” and “Puppet therapy”. They are intended for special children (disabled).
There are 20 artists in the troupe today. Eleven of them were awarded the honorary titles of "People" and "Honored" artist. Talented young people and experienced luminaries work here.
