A sofa is often located in the very center of the dwelling - in the living room or hall, but even if it is in one of the bedrooms, in the kitchen or in the nursery, often someone sits on it, communicates, drinks tea or coffee. And, of course, it is important that the surface of this element of furniture maintains a decent appearance, is clean, and does not sparkle with stains. upholstered furniture differs primarily in the material of its upholstery. As with any clothing made from different fabrics, the approach to their different types will also be different. So, how to clean the sofa at home?
The easiest way to care for furniture is upholstered in leather or leatherette. In such sofas, it is quite good to walk around the corners and crevices with a vacuum cleaner with a thin nozzle or a special brush, and then wipe the upholstery with a soft damp cloth. You can also apply special skin protection products on top.
But before you clean the sofa at home with fabric upholstery, it is better to read the label: for vinyl and textile options there will be one way, for velor - completely different. These materials (jacquard, tapestry, fabric, etc.) are well cleaned with liquid detergents. After processing with a vacuum cleaner, it is enough to mix a couple of drops of the detergent for dishes with water and apply to the surface of the sofa using a brush with a natural pile. But for upholstery in velvet, velor or faux suede, dry cleaners should be used.
Suede sofas, especially light-colored ones, are best cleaned with special dry cleaners or (in extreme cases) purchase a set of
suede shoe care products and use them.
Since under the upholstery there is most often a filler that absorbs moisture well, after deciding what means to clean the sofa, stock up immediately with what you will dry the upholstery. This can be a regular hair dryer. After processing the upholstered furniture, it will be necessary to dry it for at least an hour in order to prevent dampening of the internal contents.
Well, of course, there are many folk recipes than how to clean the sofa upholstery from specific pollution. So, stains from coffee and tea are well removed with a mixture of detergent and vinegar. Fruit juices are more difficult to remove from the couch. But the mixture of ammonia and vinegar applied to the stain will cope with this task. You do not just need to rub it so as not to damage the texture of the upholstery. If the spots are old, soak them thoroughly with this mixture before removing them.
Beer streaks are removed with a soapy solution. But in order to get rid not only of their appearance, but also of the smell, it is better to wipe the place of pollution with a solution of vinegar on top. Blood stains, until they are old, are easily removed with ordinary cold water.
Red wine is very difficult to eliminate after drying. But while the stain is fresh, it must be sprinkled with salt, and then, when the alcohol is absorbed into the salt, it can be easily removed with a vacuum cleaner.
