The invention of a bicycle with the possibility of using also motor power is a useful achievement, since now the scope of cycling will be able to move to a whole new level. Most people love bicycles, because the simplicity of construction and the ability to travel quite large distances (compared to walking) have made it the most common form of transport on our planet. However, engineering does not stand still, and today we can see on sale a special engine for a bicycle, which can be equipped with almost any modern two-wheeled vehicle.
It should immediately be noted that in addition to internal combustion engines, there are also electric motors that even outperform gasoline engines in popularity. Many may wonder why, although the answer here lies on the surface. The fact is that the bicycle was originally positioned as an environmentally friendly means of transportation, as a result of which there are no harmful emissions. If the engine for a bicycle is gasoline, then it will most likely resemble a moped, which already has nothing to do with bicycles. But in the case of using an electric motor, we get a completely new tool that has all the prospects for its further development.
In the modern world, leading bicycle transport companies are increasingly considering new projects by leading engineers to install battery-powered electric motors on a bicycle. Already today there are bicycles on sale that are equipped with everything necessary for a long trip. Such a bicycle engine allows you to travel on a single charge up to 15-20 km, and, in the event of a battery drain, you can always use the pedals and get to your destination. Modern electric bicycles are equipped with lithium-ion as well as lithium-phosphate batteries, which have proven themselves in such an operation. In addition, some bicycle models can be equipped with lead and nickel metal hydride, but their degree of charge is much lower than lithium. The electric motor is controlled on such a bike using a special controller that monitors the power by the degree of charging the battery. With a low charge, it starts to signal that it is time to switch to pedal control mode, since it is not recommended to fully cut the battery.
A gasoline engine for a bicycle has several advantages in terms of power and duration of movement at one gas station. In addition, you can always refuel your bike at any gas station, so that you can reel more than a dozen kilometers on it. However, there are also drawbacks, among which there is a rather large weight of such a vehicle, a lot of noise from a working engine, and also general environmental pollution.
The electric motor on a bicycle has an advantage in terms of easy charging, since for this it must be included in a common electrical network with a voltage of 220 volts. In addition to all of the above, some electric bikes are equipped with special mechanisms that allow you to maintain the speed of the bike at a given level (cruise control), as well as recharge the battery slightly during smooth braking (recovery).

If we talk about internal combustion engines, then specifically for bicycles they have little chance of further development.
