How to write an essay on philosophy?

The development of mental abilities, such as a clear and understandable expression of thoughts, adherence to logical sequence and structuring of the material contributes to written argumentation. Students learn this skill with the help of this type of written text as an essay on philosophy. The very process of developing a convincing argument helps the formation of the author as a critic and thinker.

Studying a topic after establishing its key problems by developing ideas that can be proved from relevant sources - this is the meaning of the word โ€œargumentโ€ in the context of an essay on philosophy. Direct writing of the work is preceded by a long selective and critical reading. The latter refers to the assessment, doubt and understanding of the material read. The arguments advanced by the student are reinforced by scientific references to the works of other authors. Quotes, information, and data collected during the study of the material become significant only when they are sequentially and logically integrated into the argument.

The essay writing plan can be divided into the following components, of which four parts are mandatory: introduction, presentation of the argument, expectation of objections and conclusion.

The introduction should have both an introductory and a thesis statement. The first should be written so as to interest the reader, and he enthusiastically read further. This may be a catchy quote, question or utterance. The role of the controlling force in the essay on philosophy is assigned to the thesis statement, most often this is the final sentence of the introductory part.

Presentation is the main part of the work, it consists of a statement and support, here it is necessary to present a convincing argument and provide the necessary evidence. Following the conventions of academic English rhetoric, the author is obliged at a certain stage to recognize the opinion of opponents. It is important for a student to be able to consider expected objections so as not to consciously ignore the evidence of his claim. He should be aware that if he himself recognizes the opinion of the opposite side, his argument will be given more confidence. Critical thinking is refined thanks to the practice of contradiction, in the case when the author of an essay on philosophy realizes that there are other points of view, moreover, they are sufficiently substantiated. The student is obliged to propose a solution to the problems when considering the objections that the opponents put before the argument, to indicate the weaknesses on which the opposite opinion rests, to offer a compromise or solution.

The conclusion, respectively, includes the combination of the argument, the secondary formulation of the thesis, and the final statement.

Essay Design

In volume, it should be equal to twelve-sheet notebooks written by hand. On the first page is an essay plan. The text itself should be distinguished by its integrity, well thought out and be your personal reasoning, obtained as a result of familiarization with the primary sources and scientific literature. In the essay, you must certainly rely on philosophical concepts and use philosophical terminology. Despite the fact that when evaluating the work, your opinion will be taken into account, nevertheless, it should be based on knowledge of philosophical theories and facts. That is why it is imperative to indicate direct links to sources that were used in the process of writing (text title and author).

The acquired skill will subsequently come in handy during employment, because the essay competition has become very popular because it allows the employer to determine whether a particular person will be useful for the company, whether he is good for business. And it depends on how he will be able to describe his mistakes and achievements, how on the whole he will be able to present himself.
