In many computer games, quite often there is a selection of completely fantastic and sometimes unrealistic weapons. However, you can also find in them one that has been in service for a long time, but for certain reasons it is used only by special forces. One such weapon is the Abakan assault rifle.
Its history begins back in 1978, when an urgent need arose to rearm the army. The ministry needed a new weapon that could replace the Kalashnikov assault rifle, but at the same time had significantly better shooting characteristics, allowing accurate fire at the enemy from a difficult situation.
A contest was held in 1981 to identify the best designs. It examined twelve rifle units of various modifications. Among them was the Abakan machine, designed by Gennady Nikonov, who called his brainchild the “machine of shifted recoil momentum”, and the competition itself was called “Abakan”.
Based on the name, we can immediately conclude that it was he who won. Moreover, thanks to its shifted recoil momentum, which made it possible to conduct very accurate burst fire. A good shooter, taking an Abakan submachine gun, can conduct aimed fire in bursts of two rounds at a distance of about one hundred meters. Moreover, both bullets can get to the same place. With it, you can fire from a trench, from a prone position, from a knee and even from various uncomfortable positions without losing the quality of firing and aiming.
However, this assault rifle requires a special shooting culture, which implies the presence of well-trained military personnel, which means that it cannot replace the popular and simple Kalashnikov. Therefore, the "Abakan" (automatic) never came into service with combat units, but was well received by the special forces. It is in service with such famous parts as Don, SOBR and Vityaz. Moreover, this weapon was so loved by the special forces that they consider it the best for fighting in specific urban conditions.
It is worth noting that the Abakan assault rifle, whose photo can be found, has one rather serious drawback. It features a complex structure that requires some care. Moreover, when disassembling the machine is divided into thirteen parts, among which are complex, such as a roller, cable and springs.
Many believe that the victory that the Abakan submachine gun earned in the competition came to him only due to the high accuracy of firing in the mode of two rounds. At the same time, no one looked at its practicality and ease of use. This is precisely the reason why this machine is still not in service with all the troops of the Russian Federation.
To date, the prospects for this weapon are not observed, although its accuracy of fire remains one of the best. There are other types of machines that are much more practical, and in some cases more efficient. Therefore, the "Abakan" remains just a regular special forces weapon for fighting in urban conditions or when capturing strategic targets.
