Its legal name is “The Institution of Culture Chamber Drama Theater”, however, another name has taken root among the people - “Chamber Drama Theater”, or simply “KDT”. The creative team has its history since 1999. It was then that the performance “Glass Menagerie” (based on the Tennessee Williams work of the same name) directed by Alexei Basov was shown at the Tula Puppet Theater. After the first performance with actors from different troupes, a desire arose to open their own drama theater. Tula would gladly accept the emergence of a new cultural object even in 1999, but there was no own premises, as well as sponsors who were ready to help in its acquisition. The creative team survived about 5 years of wandering around different scenes and after official registration received a premises at the address: Dzerzhinsky street, house 8 - where it is today.
