Sukhoi Design Bureau is widely known both in the former Union and far beyond its borders for the development of military aircraft. And while the USSR existed, this enterprise had a clearly indicated direction. Within the bureau, airplanes were developed that, as was customary in the Union, were given names consisting of the first letters of the designation KB and model number. Su-27, Su-29 - the development of this enterprise.
In the 21st century, a new organization appeared within the bureau. Her name is slightly different from the "parent", but specialization has changed dramatically. The company does not deal with military vehicles - the plan is only civil aviation. And in 2008, the Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft, a short- and medium-range single-deck liner, was presented to the public. Serial production was established in the same year 2008 and is functioning to this day.
Description
The only Soviet passenger airline used exclusively domestic models: Ilyushin, Tupolev, Antonov aircraft. In the lineup of any of these enterprises there were civilian developments, and some produced exclusively passenger aircraft, which were practical, easy to maintain, and, most importantly, quite cheap.

But even if you do not take into account the aircraft of the Soviet era, you can call the Sukhoi Superjet 100 Russian with a big stretch. Yes, he became the first passenger aircraft created in the Russian Federation, but many foreign companies took part in the development. And Aeroflot, which has become the main operator of this machine, uses it in cases where it is economically unprofitable to launch large Boeing type air buses. The aircraft accommodates 100 people (in the maximum modification), can easily be converted from two classes into one and is quite convenient for both the company and passengers. In fairness, it is worth noting that the developers produce an aircraft based on two classes - 12 places in the first, the rest - in the economy.
Features
One of the interesting details that the Sukhoi Superjet 100 boasts is the interior layout. An ordinary traveler is accustomed to using two types of lounges in passenger aviation - 9 seats in a row (3 sections of three seats), as, for example, in a Boeing 747, or 6 seats (2 sections of three seats) - as in " Boeing 737. " Here, the economy class has 5 seats in a row, on the one side of the aisle there is a standard section in three seats, on the other in two.
Another feature can be called the fact that the liner uses parts and entire blocks from many foreign companies, so he received the most modern aviation and other equipment. Among them, we can note a system that protects the tail from touching the strip at the take-off (landing) stages, even if the pilot makes a mistake.
We also refer to the uniqueness of the new machine. According to experts, the Sukhoi Superjet 100 has virtually nothing to do with earlier civilian aircraft designs.
Specifications
We present the technical parameters in the form of a list:
- The power plant is represented by a pair of Sam146 - 1S17 engines.
- APU (auxiliary) - Honeywell RE220.
- Cruising speed - 830 km / h.
- Maximum - 860 km / h.
- Ceiling - 12,200 m.
- Flight range - 3048 m.
- Wingspan - 27.8 m.
- The wing area is 77 square meters. m
- Capacity - 98 seats (+ 3 crew - flight attendant and pilots).
- Runway for takeoff - at least 1750 m, for landing - more than 1650 m.
It is worth noting that after the release of the first version, the data of which are presented above, in 2013, a modification of the Sukhoi Superjet 100LR was developed - an aircraft with an increased flight range. With the exception of more powerful engines (model 1S18), it was no different from the original car, but its flight range was 1000 km longer. In addition, for the described version of the aircraft, a longer strip was required to gain a separation speed of 2000 m.
Interior layout
Now let's move on to considering the best and worst places, as well as the general layout of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 mid-range airliner. The layout of the cabin is presented below.
The machine has exits at the beginning and at the end of the fuselage (there are no emergency exits according to the scheme above the wings), a kitchen located in the rear part, and a two-cabin layout.
The worst places, as in other liners, are located at the end of the cabin. Behind the backs there is a partition separating the kitchen (places D, E, F) and toilets (places A, C), so the backs of the seats are fixed. Odor can also be heard in the last row. Passengers flying in the first row of the business class will have some inconvenience, since the main passenger doors are in front - during take-off and landing, these places can be used for luggage. And beyond the partition in front are the toilets.
The best places can be called located in the 6th row - the first in economy class. There is a lot of legroom, the backs recline, and in front of you is a partition - no one will throw you back. Some inconvenience may be felt by the passenger occupying the 6D seat. The passages in the "business" and "economy" are shifted relative to each other.
An interesting feature of the layout is that neither in the "business" nor in the "house-keeper" there are B. seats. And according to tradition, the porthole has C, at the aisle. It was already mentioned above that the economy class received 5 seats in a row. For lovers of traveling together, this will be a definite plus.
Conclusion
The Sukhoi Superjet 100 airliner, whose photos were presented in this review, has become a convenient solution for flights over relatively short distances. On not very busy routes, the carrier was able to use a machine less demanding on resources. It can also be noted that the Superjet is a relatively new vessel with modern security and navigation systems.
