Pests In The Country - Bunny Leaflet

The bunch of leaflets belongs to the family of leaflets, is a pest of grapes. The 12 mm butterfly has a marbled pattern of wings, alternating with greenish, lead and yellowish hues. The eggs have a yellowish tint, transparent, elongated. Caterpillars are often green, sometimes also olive in color with golden shields on their heads. The half-centimeter caterpillar of the pest has an olive-brown body color. As a rule, bunching leaves survive three generations.

In winter, the insect pupae spend in cracks in the bark of the plant or in the soil at the base of the stem. In spring, when the air temperature reaches 14 degrees, the pest begins, the duration of which is about a month. The life span of a female insect is approximately 4 days, during which time a leaflet is able to lay hundreds of eggs. Caterpillars from eggs come out about 10 days after laying. The first generation of caterpillars chooses as a means of nutrition flowers, young ovaries and buds of a plant. Caterpillars of the second and third generations begin to eat berries, in the process of feeding they are wrapped in cobwebs, as a result of which, in rainy weather, the berries of the plant begin to rot. Thus, a bunch of leaves can destroy up to half the crop.

Grape varieties with a dense bunch, for example, Riesling or Biruinza, are most affected by leaflets. This is not the only one grape pest .

In the fight against such pests, the spraying of the vineyard with insecticides, such as sumicidin, sevin, cidial, fosalon, cymbush, tocution, ecamet, flufenoxuron, parathion, helps. It is possible to mix such drugs with fungicides and concurrent use against fungal parasites. Typically, the need for such treatments is necessary only for the second generation of pest tracks. About a month before harvest, processing should be discontinued. In the fight against bunching, it is possible to use the bait trap method. It consists in hanging plastic bottles filled with wine (from grape squeezed). The amount of butterflies caught in such a trap is primarily influenced by air humidity. So, in dry weather, when the need for moisture increases, the capture of such a pest also increases. Another measure against leaflets is light traps. However, a similar method is used to capture primarily males, which in fact do not determine the course of egg laying. A good way to get rid of such pests is to spray with biological products. The most effective in this case is the use of a drug called Bacilus Turisms.
