The name of Alexander Pushkin is known to every Russian person. Everyone in childhood read his wonderful tales, and at school they studied poetry and novels. Origin

Pushkin family

According to legend, the noble family of the Pushkins comes from the noble "husband" Radsha, who lived in the twelfth century. Alexander Sergeevich himself, who studied his family tree, mentioned his ancestor in the poem "My Family Tree", and also called him the name of the hero "Ruslan and Lyudmila."

The Pushkin family, no doubt, was proud of their ancestors, especially this concerned Abram Petrovich Hannibal, the great-grandfather of the poet.

He was born around 1697. Earlier, Ethiopia was indicated as the place of its birth, but modern studies show that Abram was born in the Sultanate of Logon, which was located on the modern territory of the Republic of Chad.

In early childhood, Pushkin's great-grandfather was abducted. Peter the Great, who loved various rarities, bought it from a slave trader in Europe. Since then, the little Arabian lived under the king.

As a young man, Abram received from the emperor the post of secretary and a salary of one hundred rubles. He studied in France, participated in the Spanish war. After returning to Russia in 1723, he became a lieutenant engineer at the Preobrazhensky regiment.

After the death of Peter the Great, he was exiled to Siberia. After the reign of Elizabeth, the rise of Hannibal took place. Towards the end of his life, he rose to the rank of General-General.

Abram Petrovich had eleven children, including Osip's son, Pushkin’s grandfather.

The Pushkin family has ancient military traditions dating back centuries. Osip Abramovich also followed in these footsteps - he served in naval artillery. He retired as a captain of the 2nd rank.

Osip and his wife Maria had only one daughter - Nadezhda.

Pushkin's mother was born in St. Petersburg in 1775, after the separation of her parents, she often came to the Kobrino estate. And at the age of twenty-one, she married Sergei Pushkin.

Nadezhda Osipovna was never close with her son Alexander, she was distinguished by unprecedented rigor and exactingness. However, the poet was very fond of his mother and was close by during a serious illness that claimed her life.

Pushkin's mother died in 1836 and was buried in the Svyatogorsky monastery. Pushkin, who escorted his mother on his last journey, bought a place next to her grave for himself.

He collaborated with leading magazines ("Herald of Europe"), was engaged in translations. Vasily Lvovich admired the talent of his nephew, as he repeatedly stated publicly.

Sergey Lvovich, among others, owned the village of Boldino, where the famous autumn of the poet Pushkin took place.

Brothers and sisters

The Pushkin family was very large, but by coincidence of tragic and temporary circumstances, of the seven brothers and sisters, only two survived - the elder sister Olga and brother Leo.

Olga Sergeevna grew up a very well-read girl, creativity was not alien to her. She was very friendly with her brother Alexander, they walked and talked a lot together. Subsequently, Pushkin will devote several poems to his sister.

They met in 1828 at a ball. A few months later, Pushkin was already asking her parents for blessings. But they were married only in 1831. At first, the couple lived in seclusion in Tsarskoye Selo, but then they were forced to return to St. Petersburg, since the Empress invited Natalya to the court.

In 1832, the firstborn was born to the couple - daughter Maria. The Pushkin family was in a difficult financial situation, since life in Petersburg was not cheap.

In 1835, Natalia met Dantes, a French citizen. This fateful meeting will serve in the future as the cause of accusations of Natalya Nikolaevna for all ills.
