New season 2016-2017
Theater Through the Looking Glass (St. Petersburg) opened the current season on a grand scale. The first in a series of premieres was the opera Madame Butterfly. The director and the permanent art director, Alexander Petrov, acted as the director .
Also in the 2016-2017 season, an innovation appeared - the cozy courtyard of the theater turned into a real open-air concert hall. There is now a stage, spectator seats, scenery and a protective tent from the rain in case of bad weather. In September, while it was warm, a series of several concerts went through the courtyard, allowing listeners to be transferred to other times and different countries.
In the early days of autumn, "Through the Looking Glass" hosted events dedicated to veterans of the polar convoys of 1941-1945. Meetings with these heroes took place here, for them the artists arranged a big concert.
Musical children’s theater joined the celebration of the anniversary of Sergei Dovlatov. In honor of this event, performances based on his prose works were shown here: “Sounds D” and “Suitcase”.
On the day that marks the beginning of the siege of Leningrad, September 8, theater actors took part in a memory ceremony on the shore of Lake Ladoga. Young artists sang about how heavy the war became and at what cost the Great Victory was won.
Also in September, the theater performed in the project “Music on the Neva”. This festival was organized in the very center of the cultural capital - in the open.
In October, Through the Looking Glass gave its young viewers two premieres: “Alice. Quest ”and“ Humpty Dumpty ”.
Also, the theater soon plans to go on a tour to Moscow.
In November, Through the Looking Glass will take part in the Test Yourself project, which is organized by the Goethe Institute in St. Petersburg. Here, high school students will be given the opportunity to try their hand at art. They will be able to carry out their theatrical production and play roles in it. Actors "Through the Looking Glass" will conduct master classes for students. Thus, adolescents will be given the opportunity to express themselves and speak out. The project aims to make the theater a part of the life of the younger generation.
On New Year's Eve, “Through the Looking Glass” will present its young viewers with exclusive concerts of classical music “Conductor - Santa Claus”. The program includes works by E. Grieg, P.I. Tchaikovsky, I. Brahms, V.A. Mozart, S. Prokofiev, L. Beethoven and other great composers. The concert will feature soloists and an orchestra of the theater "Through the Looking Glass".
For the second half of this season, premieres such as the opera Carmen and the children's musical Old Man Hottabych are scheduled.

In April 2017, a theater festival for children is planned. It is called Harlequin. And also a theater prize with the same name will be awarded. She will receive the best domestic productions intended for young viewers.
