Airbus A380 - salon, description, features and reviews

Airbus A380 is a two-deck passenger airliner manufactured by Airbus in France. The aircraft took off for the first time in 2005, but was commissioned by passenger transportation companies in 2007. This aircraft is considered the largest passenger airliner.

History

In 2000, Airbus executives agreed on a project to launch production of the largest airliners with the prefix "A3". Before the Airbus A380 entered service, the A300 and A340 airliners were launched. After the approval of the design, technical components and the name of the aircraft, production began in 2002. The cost of the entire project at that time amounted to more than 11 billion euros (860 trillion rubles, not counting the construction of the first airliner A380.

Engineers from Moscow participated in the design of the model aircraft, then the first design bureau was created. Russian engineers designed most of the fuselage, on-board computer support, and also led the production of this model of the Airbus.

To test the airliner, 5 test models were built. The first A380 took off in Toulouse in 2005. In 2006, the Airbus A380 made its first transatlantic flight, landing in Colombia. In 2006, the first flight with passengers took place to check the cabin for strength and convenience.

In just 2 years, the Airbus A380 flew over four and a half thousand hours and completed about 1300 flights, which is an excellent indicator for such a huge airliner.

Short description

As the largest passenger airliner in the world, the A380 is also one of the most popular, not inferior to Boeing. Here are some facts about the Airbus A380:

  1. The capacity of the airliner is 853 people.
  2. The first flight was completed in 2007.
  3. Not only France takes part in the construction of the airliner, but also Spain, Russia, Great Britain and Germany.
  4. The largest wing span among all passenger airliners is 80 meters. The flight length is almost 15500 kilometers.
  5. The maximum speed of the airliner is 1020 km / h.
  6. The most frequent buyer of the Airbus A380 is Emirates, which owns at least a dozen such airliners.
  7. The approximate number of airliners issued is 214.

Exterior

The airliner is 72 meters long, 24 meters high, and wingspan 80 meters. This is the largest of all passenger airliners to date. Outwardly, the plane is no different from its relatives, except perhaps in its enormous size: large wings, height, like an eight-story building, large engines, two on each wing. One four-wheeled landing gear is located on each wing, two pairs of six-wheeled landing gears - on the main body of the aircraft and a pair of landing gear - under the cockpit. There are versions of the aircraft with the division into economy, business and first class. A version with a two-story landing was created, where there are slightly more seats for economy class passengers than the rest.

Salon A380 Emirates

Emirates is a UAE owned company. This company owns about 40 huge airliners. The layout of the salons has two types, which depend on the design of the aircraft. The first type includes business class, first class and economy class.

The second has more seats in the economy class, here the numbers of places and rows are periodically changed. On the top floor are business and first class passengers. Economy class is located on the ground floor.

Classification

When choosing passenger seats, it is worth familiarizing yourself with the layout of the A380 cabin. Most passenger seats are in economy class, then in business class and first class. In business class, everything is done for a private flight. There are partitions for privacy, comfortable chairs and large monitors with a diagonal of 17 inches. The lounge has a bar, which is located on the second floor between the business and the first class, where in addition to food and coffee you can order alcoholic drinks and cocktails.

The economy class is not much behind in functionality from the business class. Unless the space is smaller and the dishes on the menu are different. There is also a 10-inch monitor in front of each seat for watching movies, listening to music, and monitoring flight status, including the speed of the airliner, time, flight altitude, and location.

Seats near the window on the ground floor are not located in a very convenient place due to the rounding of the fuselage, you can’t put your head on its side for relaxation. Above the passenger seats in the economy class are the luggage compartments that hold a backpack or bag. On the top floor, these compartments are located to the right of the passenger row.

To choose a convenient place, you should know the type of aircraft, since Emirates has two of them. We will discuss the choice of a place convenient for flight further.

Layout of the A380 Emirates Cabin

The first class has 4 rows. These places have comfortable seats with large displays that can turn into a full bed. The ticket price includes bar drinks and service. Also in the "compartment" there is a socket with any adapters, Wi-Fi, passenger seat lighting and a minibar right at hand. First-class passengers can order food, as in high-end restaurants, as well as take a shower right on the plane.

When choosing a place, you should familiarize yourself with the Emirates A380 cabin layout, find out the location of toilets and technical rooms. The light and noise in the rooms for staff often prevents passengers from relaxing during the flight.

Business class seats occupy 20 rows. There are also comfortable chairs, which in one movement turn into a bed. For a quiet flight, you should choose any places except places 20, 21 and 23 of the row. Near them are a bar, technical rooms and a toilet, where passengers constantly go, disturbing others.

For passengers of economy class, 53 rows are provided. Opposite each passenger seat is a 10-inch monitor, as well as a power outlet and an input for USB devices. For an additional fee, a password will be issued from the Internet, usually it is expensive. Between the rows the distance is about 80 centimeters. Usually this is enough for a quiet passage between them.

When choosing seats, it is worth taking a closer look at row 43, since there will be much more space in the legs due to the lack of front seats. But this is the only plus of this series, since there is a staircase to the second floor near it, along which stewardesses constantly go. About 43 rows of the A380 cabin is a toilet, which also creates unnecessary noise. If all these shortcomings do not bother, then this is a good choice of place for the flight.

Analogs

The main competitor of the Airbus A380 is the Boeing 787, manufactured in the United States and approved for use in 2011 (4 years later than the A380). The maximum landing is 330 people, which, of course, can not be compared with 800 passengers in the A380. The A380 interior is similar to the 787. But in the latter, the interior is lighter, white materials are used (in economy class). In the business class seats are blue or brown, it all depends on the company operating the airliner.

Conclusion

The Airbus A380 airliner gained its popularity due to the fact that it became the largest passenger aircraft, surpassing the Boeing in terms of capacity, size and technical parameters. Also, thanks to the Emirates operating the airliner, it has become the most recognizable airliner. The Airbus A380 salon is a highlight of the Emirates company, made according to all the canons of oriental culture, where even in the economy class you can comfortably sit down and forget that you are flying on an airplane rather than sitting on a couch.
