Samsung smartphones can now be called one of the most popular devices. Modern gadgets have many features and services that are useful to the user.
Increasingly, you can come across questions regarding Screen Mirroring Samsung - what is it and how to use this opportunity. In simple terms, this is a feature that provides access to the screen of a mobile device from a TV screen. Thanks to this feature, a smartphone user can:
- Make wireless connections to your TV and run various games.
- View video and audio files stored on a mobile device on a TV.
Speaking about how to connect Screen Mirroring Samsung, you need to remember that this function can play multimedia files located on a mobile device, simultaneously on it and on TV. To start working with this functionality, you need to find the corresponding application in the “Network Settings” menu, as well as use various auxiliary functions. Depending on the version of Android, these services may be different - AllShare Cast, WiDi (starting from version 3.5) or Miracast.
Screen Mirroring Samsung - what is it and when is it available?
To make sure that this function is available on your device, visit the official website of the manufacturer and find information about your model. If your device meets all the requirements, you can connect from it as follows:
- On the mobile device, launch the service for Screen Mirroring Samsung. Search for devices available for connection.
- In the list of search results, select TV. The TV appears as a pop-up at the top of the screen.
- In the above window, select "Allow to connect a mobile device."
All previously authorized mobile devices will automatically connect without approval requests. If you select Deny, the device will not be able to connect. In addition, with such a ban, synchronization will not be available in the future until you change the connection status. If you previously rejected such a connection and currently want to enable it, you need to follow these steps:
- Go to the menu item "Network Settings".
- Choose Network → Screen Mirroring → Device Manager, find the device and then click on “Allow”.
TV settings
Sometimes it happens that a mobile device cannot find the TV in normal mode, so Screen Mirroring Samsung does not connect. In this case, you do not need to continue to search for TV in the menu of your device, but you need to perform the following actions in the TV menu:
1. Go to network settings and Screen Mirroring, enable this feature. You can also start it by pressing the SOURCE button on the remote control, and then select the desired option from the list at the top of the screen.
2. Launch this service on a mobile device. The gadget will begin to search for available devices.
3. Select a TV from the list. TV settings automatically allow you to connect, without requests for approval of synchronization.
If the mobile device cannot connect, try turning the TV off and on again.
In addition, you can control the connection status of previously connected mobile devices. This function is available only if the devices were previously synchronized with the TV or the user was banned from connecting. To do this, you will need to follow these steps:
1. Go to Network → Screen Mirroring → Device Manager. The TV display will show a list of devices that were previously connected to the TV or tried to connect, but synchronization was refused. In this menu item, you can see the connection status (Allow / Deny).
2. In the pop-up window you can select “Allow connection”, “Deny connection” or “Remove device from the list”.
Screen Mirroring Samsung: how to set up on the phone
This functionality is an easier way to synchronize a mobile phone and a TV, compared to setting up the phone as a TV remote control.
As already mentioned, Screen Mirroring allows you to use the TV as an extended screen for a smartphone. This allows you to wirelessly transfer photos, videos, games and all other content and view it on the screen of your TV, controlling the contents of the screen from your phone.
The easiest way to do this is by directly connecting a Samsung Smart TV that supports this feature. If you are not sure what your Samsung Screen Mirroring TV supports, just visit the company website for the information you need. Most models produced in recent years have built-in support for this service.
On the other hand, if the above service is not supported, but you have an HDTV, Samsung Screen Mirroring may be available if you connect the TV to the AllShare Cast Wireless Hub.
How to connect HDTV to AllShare Cast Wireless Hub
Turn on the TV and the AllShare Cast Wireless Hub first. Use an HDMI cable to connect devices to each other. Check if you are connecting correctly - the TV must use the port for transmitting high-definition video.
After a few seconds, the connection status indicators light up in red. As soon as they start flashing, click the “Reset” button. After that, they should be displayed in steady red light.
The connection of HDTV and AllShare Cast Wireless Hub is completed and should work fully. Alternatively, you can use Netgear PTV3000 for such synchronization.
However, connecting to the AllShare Wireless Hub is only part of the process of connecting Screen Mirroring Samsung. How to configure it further - you need to enable such options so that your phone is connected and broadcast on the TV screen. To do this, follow these steps.
Press the power button to boot your smartphone. Go to the main screen and press the “Menu” key (lower left soft key). A new menu opens with a list of available options.
From the list of options, select "Settings." In this submenu, click on “Connections”, find the Screen Mirroring Samsung tab (that this is the right function, you won’t be mistaken), go to it and turn on the function by simply pressing the switch on the ON icon located in the upper right part of the screen.
The scale on the screen will be displayed from gray to green, indicating the inclusion of the option. Immediately after pressing ON, your phone will automatically begin scanning for available devices that support synchronization.
After your phone completes the scan, it will display a list of available devices. Just select the device that has the name of your AllShare Cast Wireless Hub.
Now your smartphone will connect to the Wireless Hub, after which the TV screen will be shared. You can see a special icon in the notification panel indicating that AllShare is connected.
What else do you need to know?
You cannot turn off the phone while using this functionality. The very definition of Screen Mirroring Samsung (what it is, we figured it out) indicates that there is simply mirroring or projection on the big screen of everything that is currently displayed on the phone’s display. This means that if you turn off the smartphone, and the function is in active mode, the image on TV will also be turned off.
Is it possible to use the option with a tablet?
You cannot use this function to connect your phone to a Samsung brand tablet. However, there is another way to share device screens in group mode. This feature also allows you to interact with the content of devices that are synchronized with each other, although there are some restrictions. If you want to connect your phone to your tablet just for watching videos, this method is perfect for you.
Can I connect a smartphone to a laptop?
In order to use Samsung Screen Mirroring for a laptop, you need an AllShare Cast device. Next, you will need to activate the option on your smartphone, perform a search and connect wirelessly. The only problem is that your laptop must have an HDMI port for connecting AllShare Cast. If there is no such port, synchronization is unlikely to be possible. If there is one, the setup process practically does not differ from the steps indicated above. Similarly using Screen Mirroring for a Samsung PC.
What technologies may be needed?
In order to use the Screen Mirroring function, you may need one of the following connection types (depending on the brand of TV or computer, if you want to use Samsung Screen Mirroring for Windows):
- Using a High-Definition Link Mobile Cable (Wired Mirror Image)
- using Miracast technology;
- using Connection Near Field (NFC) technology.
If you do not use any of the above options, this may be the reason why you cannot find the TV and Screen Mirroring Samsung does not work for you.
If the option is automatically disabled
What should I do if Screen Mirroring automatically turns off soon after connecting? To fix this problem you need to do the following:
- update firmware;
- update the Wireless Hub app for AllShare Cast;
- check the connection is correct;
- Check your phone for updates.
If all of the above attempts to resolve the problem fail, try using another device to check it with the TV and do all the steps again.
